In 2022, Oklahoma banned trans students from bathrooms. Now a 16-year-old student, Nex Benedict, is dead after a fight in a school bathroom. Nex should still be alive today—and all of us have a responsibility to create a world where trans youth can thrive. Here are 7 suggestions for organizations to support that are actively working to defend and empower trans youth. There are many more. The Trans Justice Funding Project, a fund at Tides Foundation, has created a map showing grassroots trans-led groups in every state in America: https://lnkd.in/dGfWydj2

what YEP! Youth Engagement Planning does is essential - youth engagement in planning: processes where children and teenagers are empowered to speak as themselves--where their intersectional identities, background, cultures, lived experiences, and insights--are met in dialogue, and with curiosity within planners’ urban design and planning procedures to not only hear these contributions, but respect the inherent power and agency of youth to help define the immediate, and longer-term future of their community (Brown 2024; UNICEF Innocenti 2023, 16; Derr, Ruppi, and Wagner 2017, 8; Mullahey, Susskind, and Checkoway 1999, 32)
📚If you have an upcoming conference and are interested in bringing YEP! to your event, let us know! YEP! The Neighbourhood Academy is the space that Pécs Community Foundation, serving the city of Pécs in Hungary, created to bring people and organisations in the community together and foster conversations. In the past couple of years, the Academy gathered especially older people who wanted to explore, along with others, how they are living the community life, what their roles could be and how to foster intergenerational dialogue and fight isolation. Training and Resource Director | Community-Engaged Research | Rhetoric PhD | 10+ Years Creating Learning Spaces in Higher Education and Nonprofit Organizations
Our poster titled, "Peer Learning Spaces for Sustainable Community-Engaged Research Partnerships," details our commitment to cultivating equitable partnerships through content AND process. This means the following: 🌼 Content: We're delivering up to date content on creating and maintaining community-engaged partnerships. 🌼 Process: We're co-creating that content with our partners to maintain the partnership long after the training is completed. For me, content AND process are intricately related and those connections make the project more meaningful. I'm not only concerned about the end destination, but also the path I choose to get there.

Leadership Coach |Founder Teresa Heart Foundation | Top Lead Mentor Young Women Lead | Advocacy Trainer of Trainers| Graphic designer| Skills and Abilities trainer
I had the privilege of addressing youths in Matero and here are some points as to why Youth Engagement is important. Youth engagement is critically important for several reasons: - Fresh Perspectives and Innovation: Young people bring new ideas, creativity, and fresh perspectives to societal issues and challenges. Their innovative thinking can lead to novel solutions that benefit communities and society as a whole. - Empowerment and Participation: Engaging youth empowers them to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives and futures. This fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility towards their communities. - Building Civic Responsibility: Youth engagement helps in cultivating civic responsibility and a sense of duty towards society. When young people are involved in community service, volunteering, and advocacy, they develop a deeper understanding of social issues and the importance of contributing positively to society.
