For our Elkhart General Hospital patients and visitors: The City of Elkhart will continue a paving project on South West Boulevard tomorrow, Friday, July 26, and on Monday, July 29. Expect delays, follow workers’ instructions and any detour signage during this time as traffic will be restricted to one side of South West Boulevard when traveling south between West Lexington Avenue to Arcade Avenue. Arcade Avenue will be open to the hospital’s main entrance and visitor parking lot, so consider approaching the campus from the east using either Bridge Street or East Boulevard. The Emergency Department entrance off of East Boulevard will remain open. Please allow extra time to arrive for appointments at the hospital and drive carefully around the campus.

The next time you go to Memorial Hospital of South Bend you will definitely notice some changes. As we build a new patient tower to serve you better, some adjustments have been made around the main entrance to accommodate parking and traffic. Here are the two important points you need to know when navigating our campus: 1. Traffic now follows a one-way pattern. Enter at the west driveway that leads to the main entrance and exit at the east driveway. 2. Parking in the Bartlett Street Garage? Enter and exit at the west end of the garage. We're working to build you a healthier tomorrow. Read more about our new traffic patterns here: https://bit.ly/3W4AVHx

Singapore’s newest integrated acute and community hospital, Woodlands Health, welcomed its first patients in December with the opening of its specialist clinics and 40 community hospital beds. The 7.7ha facility will fully open the rest of its services, including the emergency department and acute wards, in May 2024. It will eventually have 1,000 acute and community beds, and almost 400 beds in its long-term care facility, with the capacity to expand to 1,800 beds to meet future needs. Ramboll has worked closely with the Ministry of Health (Singapore), Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore and other government agencies to develop a mobility and connectivity plan that links the future transport network – including the Thomson MRT line at Woodlands South Station – as well as road network improvements into the new campus requirements. Special attention was required to ensure accessibility and travel distances were minimised for elderly and disabled users, while also ensuring sufficient capacity for people moving through the campus during peak hours. Both internal pedestrian and vehicular traffic simulation models were utilised during the planning process to ensure fundamental components were properly planned prior to commencement of detailed design. This included the simulation of differing physical abilities and mobility impaired people. The healthcare campus is unique in its connection with nature. Mobility played a key role in enabling a ground level dedicated to pedestrians and wellness, moving all transport facilities into a below ground network that facilitates the movement of ambulances, private vehicle drop off and parking, taxis and hospital logistics. This complex network of below ground mobility was planned in close collaboration with architects and other specialists, enabling a highly efficient transport system that gives the ground level back to people and nature. #futuretransport #transportplanning #trafficsimulation #smartmobility

#CountdownToOneHundred - On September 15, 2024 Hendrick Health will celebrate a century of caring for our community. To help commemorate this milestone - I will be counting down and sharing 10 things that make Hendrick special. #1 - Our Opportunities for the Future 100 years ago today, Hendrick Health (then West Texas Baptist Sanitarium) opened its doors and allowed 1,200 visitors to tour the hospital. They visited with doctors & nurses, checked out the 52 patient rooms and viewed demonstrations of new state-of-the-art equipment. As the visitors strolled the hallways, they marveled at what this facility - filled with caring experts and the latest technology - could mean for them and for their families' future healthcare journeys. And here, 100 years later, Hendrick is still filled with doctors, nurses and state-of-the-art equipment that is ready to respond to needs of our community. And as important as the past 100 years have been, Hendrick Health's best days are ahead. With major plans for growth to respond to the needs of our neighbors and to our region - the future is full of opportunities to continue to offer excellent and compassionate healthcare that is close to home. Today is the start of a new century. A new century of living out our mission to "deliver high quality healthcare emphasizing excellence and compassion consistent with the healing ministry of Jesus Christ." True yesterday. True Today. True Tomorrow. #hendrick100 #future #NextSteps #BestIsYetToCome #SecondCenturyVision

So hospital parking. If done well, I actually do not have a problem with it. If. Clean. Safe. Secure. Fair prices. Cuts down on abuse so parking is available for only people using the hospital. Discounted rates for NHS staff and contractors. Provides and income directly to the hospital rather than a cost. And only. If people who are on long term treatment plans where they will be visiting the Hospital many, many times. Then it is free for them and there family and the people caring for them. A course of Chemo of 20 plus treatments and all the surrounding visits is a tremendous strain on the patient and family. What they don’t need is hundreds if not thousands of pounds in parking charges. Now I know that most units will offer the patients free parking by various methods depending on the car parking infrastructure. But what they don’t do very well is to publish how patients access this. And the patient may not want to ask or even know who to ask. I just urge hospitals to do better. Am I right or wrong on this?
