Today marks the beginning of Indigenous Business Month, and this year's theme, ‘Making Your Mark’, is all about celebrating the impact, innovation, and resilience of Indigenous entrepreneurs. For me, ‘making your mark’ means embracing our unique strengths through collaboration, honouring our cultures, lifting others up and celebrating them, while using our platforms to inspire positive change across our communities. It’s about leaving a legacy that uplifts communities, creates opportunities, and showcases the incredible talent and creativity within the Indigenous business space. Let’s celebrate, support, collaborate and elevate Indigenous businesses all month long and beyond! What are three things that you can do? 1. Shop Australian First Nations: Seek out and purchase products or services from Indigenous-owned businesses to support economic growth and sustainability in communities. #buyblackowned 2. Amplify Indigenous Voices: Share and promote Indigenous businesses on social media or through word of mouth to help raise awareness and grow each of our customer bases. #OurVoice 3. Attend Indigenous Events: Participate in workshops, markets, or events hosted by Indigenous entrepreneurs to learn more about us and contributions while supporting our ventures directly. Want to know how? Contact your local / State Indigenous Business Hub or Indigenous Chamber of Commerce or visit https://lnkd.in/gCSv9eSD ❤️💛🖤 #IndigenousBusinessMonth #MakingYourMark #SupportIndigenousBusiness #CulturalLegacy #CollaborateWithUs

Six months ago, it was just a dream. Now, it's a reality. With roots in Canada and a strong presence in South Africa, we knew it was time to dive into the vibrant South African business and entrepreneurship scene. Alongside our incredible partners, Suitable Focus and Hillsdon Consulting, we've crafted an event series that breaks the mold—a refreshing blend of networking, learning, and connection. Walking into the esteemed AfricaWorks co-working space, we saw unfamiliar yet eager faces from diverse sectors and backgrounds converging. Climate Tech leaders like Namrata Z. chatted with UCT SWEEP student reps like Arista Jagath, while business owners like Natasha Scholtz mingled and connected with the many other business leaders in attendance. The networking buzz was palpable, and we’re honored to have sparked such meaningful connections. But that was just the beginning. The Business #Showcase exemplified our mission to bridge enablers with difference-makers. Incubators, accelerators, and ecosystem builders like UVU Africa and Founders Factory Africa showcased their support structures, while startups and SMEs like Cape Locavore and Memeza Shout Community Safety highlighted their impactful work. The result? A platform brimming with potential connections and opportunities, sparking conversations that promise to lead to something extraordinary. Amidst the networking buzz, our #roundtable discussions became the heartbeat of insight and learning. From Women in Leadership to AI's impact on business and the South African business landscape, many engaged passionately, sharing perspectives and gaining new knowledge. And let's not forget the #Spotlight Sessions—an opportunity to explore the stories behind the innovative ventures shaping South Africa's business scene. Each interview showcased passion and dedication, leaving us inspired by the depth of talent and innovation. In the end, our event was more than just a success—it was the birth of a community. To all who joined us, learned with us, and connected with us, we extend our deepest gratitude. This is just the beginning, and we're ready to build something extraordinary together. #Johannesburg, get ready—we're coming for you next, and we couldn't be more excited! Here's to the power of connection and the promise of what's to come. #BLEC #businessleaderconnect #BLEC2024 #BusinessLeaderEntrepreneurConnect #WinnersCommunity2024 #winners #community
