Do you tell your clients why you're out of the office? I tend to do it, even though I know I don't have to. I feel like it helps maintain expectations. But sometimes I wonder if I’m over-sharing. Like, do they really need to know I’m out because I'm volunteering at my kids school? On the flip side, I think it helps humanize us as professionals. We’re not robots; we have lives, families, and sometimes we just need a break. What do you all think? Do you share the reasons behind your out-of-office status with your clients? We just wrapped up our third annual Camp Hungryroot ⛺️🎉 where we brought the full corporate team together for connection, reflection and celebration. Here are some highlights: (1) We started the retreat with a customer panel. It set the tone for the entire week. Five long-term customers described their experiences using Hungryroot — from why they started, to how it’s impacted their daily lives, to how we can make it better. It was inspirational, emotional and informative all at once. In our highly data driven world, it was an important reminder of the human impact of our work. (2) We conducted a training on giving feedback. We each reflected on the best feedback we’ve ever received. Mine? To smile more. We also talked about the importance of communicating as clearly and concisely as possible. The longer a document or email, the less people are going to read it, and the less each person will digest it. (3) Lastly, we celebrated. We have ambitious goals, and it’s often easy to allow those to overshadow all that we have accomplished. As a remote first team, time in person is critical, and we spent it deepening bonds, building camaraderie, and sharing laughs 🤩

My Better Late Than Never LinkedIn Post! It's been over a month since I finished volunteering at EKOenergy Ecolabel. This experience brought me a lot of new knowledge and fulfillment, for which I will always be grateful. Thank you, Steven Vanholme, and the entire team! After volunteering, I went through a challenging period of self-reflection and uncertainty about my next steps. During this time, I felt huge pressure to get everything right and to find a way to combine success (whatever that means) with doing something meaningful. LinkedIn, with its constant stream of "milestones," "exciting news," and "new positions," made me feel like everyone else had it all figured out while I was left behind. But guess what? That’s not true. Most people in their twenties are also feeling lost, confused, and uncertain about their decisions. And that is okay. It's a normal part of the journey, and we need to give ourselves the grace to navigate it at our own pace. Now, I feel more grounded and have started a new position, which I will share more about soon. For now, I just wanted to address this overwhelming pressure of “successful success.” Can you relate? Dip in and out to suit your career needs. Value gained to be monetised outside SkilledUp Life. Clarification: We have no plans to go into education or paid job markets. We will remain between these two worlds. Volunteering will always be free but we might introduce a pro version with added benefits.
