Embassy of Belgium in the United States of America’s Post

🇧🇪🇪🇺 Reflecting on a successful Belgian EU Presidency! As we conclude the six-month Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2024, we gathered with esteemed Belgian, European, and American guests. Last night, at our closing reception in Washington, DC, we celebrated not only the achievements of the Belgian EU Presidency but also honored Ambassador Jean-Arthur Régibeau, whose four-year tenure in the US will conclude at the end of July. Throughout this Presidency, Belgium has advanced significant political agreements across various fronts. From unwavering support for #Ukraine, marked by the start of EU accession negotiations, to substantial progress in defense, security, migration, climate action, economy, competitiveness, and the safeguarding of our shared values, Belgium has displayed steadfast leadership. Ambassador Régibeau expressed profound gratitude for the collaborative efforts with our partners in Washington, DC, emphasizing the joint endeavors on critical issues like Ukraine. We were honored to receive heartfelt acknowledgments from esteemed leaders such as Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, co-chair of the Congressional Friends of Belgium Caucus, who commended Ambassador Régibeau's leadership. EU Ambassador Jovita Neliupšienė also extended warm congratulations on the accomplishments of the Belgian EU Presidency and highlighted Ambassador Régibeau's personal qualities. A sincere thank you to all who contributed to the success of the Belgian EU Presidency here in Washington, DC. Together, we have maintained the strong foundation for continued collaboration across the Atlantic. Thank you to our generous Bronze sponsor Televic and our partners for providing the much appreciated refreshments: Katcef Brothers Inc/Capital Eagle Inc, Duvel Moortgat USA Ltd, BBL USA. 📸 Andy Van Pachtenbeke Ministry of Foreign Affairs Belgium
