Summer Prep (For Autumn Action) Summer is not just the best time to relax. It is also the perfect moment to think about fresh ideas and new innovative strategies! So, in this video, I'll propose three things you can think about during the sunny months (in the Northern Hemisphere, at least...) and implement when everyone is back at work in the autumn: 1) Boost learning and growth 2) Promote open chat and teamwork 3) Set up clear decision-making steps Focusing on these areas over the summer will prepare you to bring your team back ready to innovate, decide, and solve problems like pros this autumn! #innovation

🌟 𝗬𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 🌟 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴’ 𝘚𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 Yesterday, our working students showcased their innovative ideas developed during their summer assignment. Their task was to immerse themselves in our company and identify impactful project ideas. I do want to share with you what I learned about the Summer Assignment approach. 𝗠𝘆 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: • 𝘝𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘦𝘸: Fresh perspectives from young employees can challenge and refine your thinking. • 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬: New team members can highlight existing issues and offer surprising insights - without them knowing the issue from you. Somewhat validating what you are already working on. • 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘴: Guide without steering content; focus on actionable next steps. • 𝘊𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: Facilitate easy access for the team to those who will benefit from the idea. • 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘘𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴: Identify blind spots and potential deal-breakers early on. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: • 𝘌𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: Crafting a concise TLDR about your idea not only informs but also clarifies your own understanding. • 𝘌𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘊𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭: Always back up ideas with solid proof. May be a study and actual research you did yourself! 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: • 𝘕𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴: They started in deep waters, but guidance simplified their journey. • 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘱: A strong foundation boosts the start of any assignment. Kudos to our students for their hard work and creativity! 🎉

🌟 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐥𝐲 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 ! 🌟 As we wrap up another week in the life of Mindful Movements, we're excited to the progress and experiences our incredible team has had so far! Here’s a glimpse into what we’ve been up to: 🗓️ 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐩𝐬: Our mornings start with energising standup meetings, setting the tone for a productive day ahead. These sessions have been fantastic for fostering team communication and alignment. 🏢 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲: Wednesday was a special day as our interns came together in person and met the rest of the Mindful Movements team (minus a couple of folks!). Collaborating offline has brought a fresh dynamic to our teamwork, enhancing creativity and strengthening team bonds. 🤝 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬: Interns had the opportunity to connect with their Mindful Movements mentors through one-on-one buddy calls. These interactions have been instrumental in providing personalised guidance and support, ensuring each intern is on the right track. 📞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟𝐬: Anita led insightful mid-week debrief calls, allowing interns to reflect on their progress and align on project goals. These debriefs have been crucial for continuous improvement and learning. 🚀 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐩: Anita led our end-of-week team meeting, kicking off with cheers for each team member (we love celebrating wins, no matter how big or small!) and progress updates . The meeting ended with a forward-looking discussion on our culture, social responsibility, and learning & development goals. This session reinforced the importance of continuous improvement and collective responsibility. We're incredibly proud of our  team for their dedication, enthusiasm, and the fresh perspectives they bring to Mindful Movements. Are you in the midst of your #TakeYourChildToWorkDay planning? A few things to consider… 1) First and foremost, the kids want to see where their adults spend their day and meet who they spend it with. So make sure those pieces of art and photos are visible and maybe try to set a time for donuts with colleagues. (Pick those colleagues wisely if you’ve ever complained over the dinner table - the kids heard it). 2) They want to learn about what their adult and the organization does. If you can explain it to the K-12 crowd, you can explain it to anyone — and, if you can’t simplify it or break it into pieces, it might be a good opportunity to rethink your comms and branding. 3) They want a glimpse into their potential. So, show them the cool, mission-focused stuff as well as the support roles. Show them how their interests today can become gainful employment someday. Show them how you value diversity of background, experience, and perspective — and hold space to include everyone. And definitely hype internship programs for those high schoolers — they’re listening too. 4) If this day isn’t your jam, now’s the time to book a conference room away from all the mayhem or request to telework. Ideally, your organization will make it clear where there will and won’t be activities. Ask for grace if you know this will be triggering for you. Everyone’s going to try to be real cool, but kids are kids. 5) Try to avoid scheduling big meetings that day. That supports full participation for those who are interested (without having to bring kids to meetings) and gives a break to those who aren’t participating and might already be overwhelmed. (No, this isn’t a hint to reschedule all those meeting for Friday either.) Most of all, remember that events like these can be great for #culture and #morale. That fresh perspective can reenergize your team’s interest in the work they do every day — and that’s nothing but goodness!

Without a supportive team, everything else fails 😳 I took a bold step and downed tools for four whole weeks, leaving my two-person marketing team to hold the fort… And let’s just say, they didn’t even need me. Before I left, I made sure they had everything in hand and knew they could work things out together. I’ve been lucky to see firsthand just how incredible my team is, and I wanted to give a special shoutout to the backbone of our team Marissa Brown and our amazing summer intern, Autumn Golledge. Marissa, as always, has been my go-to support blanket whenever I’ve needed it. Her dedication and expertise continue to impress me, and I’m so grateful to have had her by my side from the very beginning of my marketing journey. 🥰 And then there's Autumn. She’s only been with us for a short time, but she’s already been smashing it out of the park. From the moment she started, she’s been a fast learner, picking up everything with ease and bringing fresh energy to the team. ✨ It’s not often you come across someone who can dive in so quickly and make an impact right away, but she’s done just that without my support. This whole experience has been proof in what I’ve always believed: without a supportive team, everything else falls apart. I spoke about research to current trends around what Gen Z'ers care about, engage in, and aspire to achieve in the workplace & beyond with the Taco Bell Foundation & CoLabL. I love hosting workshops for other Gen Z'ers, but I find it just as important to have voices like mine, Tiana Day, & Angela Richard, M.Ed. spotlighted in spaces like these. Ironically, in the best way, this was an example of something we all preached! 👏 THE IMPORTANCE OF INTERGENERATIONAL DIALOGUE & CO-MENTORSHIP 👏 We also spoke about the value of engaging and including young people in the work being done to serve them! Not simply through internships but other opportunities that allow us to have agency and ownership of decision-making. A topic I'm diving head first into with Lionel Ramazzini and the team over at Hopelab. Major shoutout to Daniel Horgan for being an incredible facilitator and for summarizing my thoughts on youth engagement (I'll be using this just as you're using "speaking in draft" 😉): 💡 Focus on the 4 Cs – connection, curiosity, context, and co-creating. How are we building and managing connections that are less transactional and more relational? How are we balancing teaching and learning together plus finding the confidence/courage to ask questions and dig deeper to understand each other and the issues we are aiming to address. Are we taking time to share context including the why behind decisions, tasks, and goals? Are we ensuring that there are seats at the table for those impacted by decisions and strategy – inviting them to share perspectives and co-create solutions to challenges plus strategies for growth. Make a comprehensive list of everyone that you need on your bus.  List who you have on your team now and where the gaps are. Create a hierarchy list of who is the highest priority to get on the bus. Define the roles and responsibilities for each person Start having conversations with prospective team players Remember your "A-Team" can also be composed of peer advisory groups such as EntrePowerment, mentors/advisors, coaches, consultants, strategic partners, interns, virtual assistants… Make this the month that you gain clarity on WHO you need to build your empire! “If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together” 58:57

I had a intern who taught me this September 1st a few years back, he walked into my office with 2 blank pieces of paper, handed one to me and said: “Today we need to set our New Resolutions, so they are successful” And it worked! September is a month of transition, we are programmed from nursery school to shake off summer and hopefully energized from the break, longer days, warmer nights, be ready to embark on something new But keep it simple: - Carve out time for clarity: Go for a walk, “sit” with your thoughts, process them and then block out a power hour to put pen to paper - Re-evaluate priorities: Focus on max-impact goals and drop whatever takes up space on the list for no good reason - Ask yourself: ‘What key actions do you want to achieve by the end of 2024 to make it a wholesome year & what can I add-on for 2025?’ - Link each goal to a Why: Why does it matter to you, what will change in your life if your achieve this? - Initiate action: Take even the smallest step in the moment to set the goal in motion Productive energy is in the air. Make the most of it. 💫
