There just so much scrambling for our time and attention that we tend to falter at consistency. Definitely not resuming for work as that takes top priority as regards survival 🤪🤪🤪 Hey,I still decide to join yet again,not because my schedule is lighter but because I will continue to push myself towards perfection. Whether I'll finish it or not,I don't know but this time,I'll put in more efforts to getting to the finish line. Our beliefs, which ultimately create our behaviour, are formed at a very early age, with 80% being developed before age 7. These beliefs are shaped by our perception of the world, which is often influenced by the people closest to us - such as our parents, guardians, and immediate family. While beliefs can be positive and provide valuable insights and perspectives, others can instil negative behaviours and emotions like fear, anger, and disillusionment.  In order to create these beliefs, children learn from others, by watching their behaviour and listening to responses in situations.  They mimic the behaviours of those they respect and look up to. Happy Friday - and day five of White Cane Awareness Week! Here are 5 fun facts about White Canes: 1. The white cane has its signature white and red coloring because of George A. Bonham. In 1930, Bonham noticed that darker colored canes were difficult for people who were driving to see. The white and red coloring of modern white canes are easy to see and remember as an indicator that the user is B/VI. 2. The technique for using a white cane was developed by Richard E. Hoover in 1944 to help rehabilitate WWII veterans who had lost their sight. Holding the long cane and swinging it back and forth ahead of you before each step is known as the “Hoover Method.” 3. There are three different kinds of white canes: the standard mobility cane, used to navigate, the support cane, used by people with visual impairments who also have mobility challenges, and the ID cane, a small, foldable cane used by people with partial sight to let others know they have a visual impairment. 4. You can’t become a certified Orientation & Mobility specialist, someone who teaches white cane technique to people who are blind, until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes. In order to become certified, you must spend at least 120 hours blindfolded, navigating with a white cane. 5. Only an estimated 2 to 8 percent of people who are B/VI use white canes. The rest rely on their usable vision, a guide dog, or a human guide. This lower number could be in part be because B/VI people sometimes experience social stigma and are treated differently because of their disability. This is why White Cane Awareness Week is so important!
