🌿 Sustainability in Tourism: A Collective Responsibility 🌿 Three of the four pillars of sustainability—human, environmental, and social—are the very foundation of Australia’s thriving tourism industry. Our incredible people, pristine natural environments, unique culture, and safe communities all contribute to the success of this sector. These elements, when balanced, lead to a financially viable and sustainable industry—the fourth pillar of sustainability. For sustainability to be truly impactful, it must be achievable, affordable, practical, and user-friendly. As tourism business owners, we have a responsibility to lead the way in driving sustainable practices within our industry. By doing our part, we can help pave the way for others, making the journey toward sustainability smoother for everyone. Imagine if we all shared our experiences, how much easier and more successful this journey would be for all of us. Let’s work together to create a sustainable future for tourism. #SustainabilityInTourism #TourismLeadership #EcoFriendlyTravel #SharedExperiences #FutureOfTourism

Yesterday, I helped businesses drive commercial excellence, and today, I help businesses build resilience.
🙌 How wonderful news! My recent research highlights the pain point of the lack of standardisation of the industry's sustainability metrics, when it compares the sustainability reporting of various hotel operators 💔 It does make the benchmarking harder, but more importantly, it makes the industrial collaboration harder when each is chasing their own vision! Yes, we need a metric like RevPAR for measuring sustainability performance! To EFFECTIVELY move the needle. How wonderful news! 🙌 https://lnkd.in/dU9Wgu5K

Since today (Feb 29th) we get an "extra day", if you can spare a few minutes, can you help share your feedback on our survey? 😊 The teams at TrainingAid and Travindy are working together to build solutions to help destinations and tourism organisations effectively engage businesses in sustainability initiatives. Regardless of where you currently are on your sustainability journey, stakeholder engagement is a key part of advancing your efforts. The more companies, partners and members become engaged in sustainability, the more effective you will be in elevating sustainability practices across your network. We’d like to deepen our understanding of this critical aspect of sustainability efforts, so we can create effective solutions for scaling sustainability efforts. Currently gathering feedback from destination organisations, industry networks, tour operators and OTAs. Please see the surveys below for: 👉 Tour operators and OTAs: Engaging suppliers in sustainability initiatives https://lnkd.in/ggXPnacu 👉Destination organisations: Engaging tourism businesses in sustainability https://lnkd.in/g8rpKak6 Thank you in advance for your time and input! 🙏 (Please see more information on what we're doing and why here: https://lnkd.in/geAzh9Xw) Anula Galewska #SustainableTourism #StakeholderEngagement #Sustainability #TourismDestinations #TourismBusiness #SustainabilityManagement #DestinationManagement

Australia has recently implemented mandatory sustainability (ESG) reporting for big businesses, and it’s whispered that this will eventually flow down to small businesses, too. Although it might not be soon, it’s still useful to start considering your own activity related to sustainability (and that’s not just related to the environment). Ecotourism Australia & Destination NSW have an offer at the moment to access their S4S Scorecard for free if you’re a NSW tourism business, and we would encourage all of the businesses in the Riverina Murray to take advantage of this. At the very least just to help you consider what sustainability is all about, how it relates to what you do day-to-day, and what might be to come.
Thanks to our partnership with Destination NSW, eligible NSW visitor economy businesses can gain access to our pre-certification Strive 4 Sustainability Scorecard. Here are 10 amazing NSW-based businesses that have completed the Strive 4 Sustainability Scorecard and are making strides in sustainable tourism: Balloon Aloft Cape Byron Kayaks Bandicoot Pottery Brokenwood Wines Arts Factory Lodge Contained in Nimbin Beachcomber Holiday Park Canyonleigh Retreat Green Pedal Cycles Forster Dive Centre Check out our latest article to learn more about these businesses and our partnership with Destination NSW: https://lnkd.in/g_zqhXEx Are you ready to start your sustainability journey? Applications for Destination NSW funded Strive 4 Sustainability Scorecard program are still open, but spots are filling fast! This Earth Day, we are looking towards a greener future for our visitors to Western Australia. We recently announced a ‘Dream Decade’ for #WAtheDreamState, with the unveiling of the WA Visitor Economy Strategy 2033 (WAVES 2033) — a new vision for Western Australia, ‘to be recognised as a world-class destination that immerses people in its unique cultures, communities and environment.’ Sustainability is a key pillar within the WAVES 2033 strategy, and it is increasingly influencing traveller choices in terms of where to go, how to get there, where to stay and which experiences they engage with at the destination. Key areas in our WAVES 2033 strategy include growing a sustainable business tourism sector, and supporting sustainable and unique accommodation offerings, attractions and experiences in and around Protected Areas. Sustainable Business Consultant | I help industrial and corporate businesses integrate sustainable business practices into their business models to enhance brand reputation, long-term profitability, and societal impact.
In an era where travelers increasingly seek eco-conscious options, developing a sustainability strategy is crucial for the long-term success of tourism businesses. Sustainability Strategy Development helps align business operations with environmental goals, ensuring resource efficiency and minimal ecological footprint. Not only does this approach boost the business's reputation, but it also opens new markets to eco-conscious travelers. By integrating sustainable practices into day-to-day operations, tourism companies can reduce costs, comply with regulations, and build stronger connections with local communities. This holistic strategy leads to resilient business models that can adapt to both environmental and market shifts. A well-crafted sustainability strategy not only improves a company’s competitive edge but also fosters long-term profitability. It integrates sustainability into every layer of the business—supply chain management, customer engagement, and even the development of new tourism products. Ultimately, sustainability strategy development allows companies to do more than just follow trends—it lets them lead the way in a growing movement toward a greener, more responsible future. #SustainableTourism #StrategyDevelopment #EcoTourism #ResponsibleTravel #Greentourism
