A quote from Tony Soulis made today on another post: “As most AMEs are aware by now, Transport Canada (TC) for years, has consistently abandoned its regulatory obligation to support and promote its own primary controlling documents: The Aeronautics Act and its subordinate regulations that serve to maintain aviation safety in Canada. More specifically, the lack of: TC regulatory leadership, applicable AME training curricula associated with the profession, and the lack of recognition for the officially defined role, and safety responsibilities bestowed on our AME cadre by the Crown. That being the case, it is incumbent on all AMEs to ensure that their voice is heard loud and clear by faceless bureaucrats who endlessly try to minimize our regulatory role by continuously diluting the role of the AME and AME regulatory standards within our aviation industry. As Steve Chamberlain has suggested, take a few minutes of your time to register your name with the AME Association in your region. The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) has acquired the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA’s) interest in the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE). The European association is now the sole producer of all future editions of EBACE, including next year’s event. “EBACE is well recognised as the premier business aviation event in Europe, bringing together the latest aircraft, newest technologies, industry visionaries and innovators, policymakers and key decision-makers,” said Holger Krahmer, secretary general, EBAA. “EBAA is looking forward to building upon this amazing platform, establishing the new EBACE as the leading hub for Europe’s business aviation professionals in ways that reflect the unique nature of business aviation in Europe.” Ed Bolen, president and CEO, NBAA said the associations had forged “a very strong relationship” over decades working together to promote business aviation in Europe, the US and around the world. “We look forward to continuing that relationship as we work together in all aspects of business aviation, including safety, sustainability, innovation, workforce development and security,” said Bolen. IFATCA at ICAO ICAO True North – Advisory Group (TRUE-AG) had their 3rd meeting in person, ICAO Headquarters, May 6-10th 2024. IFATCA was represented by Dan walker (CATCA). At the IFATCA World Conference 2023, a working paper was presented on True Vs Magnetic North by IFATCA's technical committee. This WP provides a good summary of the issues: https://lnkd.in/dB-hNqqA TRUE-AG is comprised of 30 members from organizations such as International Air Transport Association (IATA), CANSO, GAMA, EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency, EUROCONTROL, and the Federal Aviation Administration, as well as numerous State Representatives from around the globe. This topic is a global transition to True North, whether to transition, and if so how to do so effectively and safely. IFATCA having a seat at the table for a working group like this helps to ensure that ATC/ATCO interests and needs are considered, and factored in as a meaningful part of the planning, decision making, and any implementation plans. https://lnkd.in/dihmAeKr

Our industry really does punch above its weight, making a significant contribution to global economies that is not always acknowledged or even understood. Industry stakeholders understand that well, and we are using our platforms to make others aware. It was great to see the findings of the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA) Business Aviation Association annual report for 2023 that state BizAv operators and manufacturers generated a combined $11.7 billion in direct economic output as well as supporting 25,600 direct jobs. We need to build on this momentum and show both the public and governments that the service we provide is not only crucial to support business functions but also a huge contributor to the economy in general. #bizav #CBAA #privateaviation
