In the world of professional development, inspiration can come from unexpected places. As I walked through Paddington yesterday I caught sight of the Paddington statue on the platform and it got me thinking, what do the well loved characters of our childhood teach us? While Paddington's adventures are heartwarming and entertaining, they also offer valuable lessons for our careers and personal growth. 🧥 Adaptability: Paddington arrives in London from Peru, navigating a completely new environment with curiosity and resilience. Embracing change and being adaptable are crucial skills in today's fast-evolving workplace. 🧥 Kindness and Empathy: Paddington's interactions are always rooted in kindness and understanding. Building strong, empathetic relationships is key to effective teamwork and leadership. 🧥 Optimism: Despite the challenges he faces, Paddington maintains a positive outlook. This optimism drives him to find creative solutions and maintain morale, qualities that are equally important in overcoming professional obstacles. 🧥 Attention to Detail: Paddington's meticulous nature, especially when it comes to his beloved marmalade sandwiches, reminds us of the importance of attention to detail in our work, ensuring quality and excellence. 🧥 Cultural Awareness: Coming from a different background, Paddington shows us the value of diversity and the richness it brings to our lives and workplaces. Embracing and celebrating different perspectives fosters innovation and inclusivity. Next time you face a challenge at work, think of Paddington Bear and remember these timeless lessons. Who knew a small bear from Peru could offer such valuable professional insights? #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerGrowth #Leadership #Teamwork #Adaptability #Kindness #Optimism #AttentionToDetail #DiversityAndInclusion

Black women in the workplace — especially in the executive suite — are frequently misunderstood and subject to microaggressions based on biases and assumptions. Studies such as a recent Harvard Business Review report tell us that Black women are more likely to be thought of as “angry” and “aggressive” when they assert themselves at work, a stereotype that has persisted for years. Navigating these hostile workplace cultures can make it difficult to rise through the ranks, even when qualified, and contribute to higher rates of BIPOC women leaving their jobs. Employment attorney and author Chiquita Hall-Jackson has spent years studying this phenomenon and coaching other women of color in toxic organizations. She’s outspoken about the mistreatment and unfair treatment present in these organizations, and advocates for women fighting back against microaggressions without compromising their authentic selves. Here, she discusses the problem, the options, and how to change our cultures: #BIPOCExecutives #BlackWomenInBusiness #BlackWomenAtWork #BlackWomenExecutives

No matter how many times we say First Peoples First or update our Diversity Access and Inclusion Plans, if we don’t walk the talk around cultural safety, our organisations will continue to re-center whiteness and white privilege. Supplier diversity is a social and business imperative that helps increase supply chain resilience, reduce operational risk and support organizational innovation. An important role is played by changing the approach from one focused solely on achieving savings to one combining corporate social responsibility and sustainable development, while maintaining efforts focused on reducing business costs. CEOs with the ability to initiate change can start by changing their colleagues' perceptions about whether diverse suppliers actually cost more, are just small companies, and are they really that hard to find. Opening up to new groups of suppliers is one of the key issues that will help us survive further possible economic turmoil. How important is supplier diversification to You in the development of Your business? #ServicedApartment #ResidentialForRent #Furnished #Apartments #BuildToRent #Build2Rent #BathPOD #KitchenPOD #PrefabricatedBath #PrefabricatedKitchen #KitchenFurniture #BathFurniture #ApartmentProjects #ResidentialProjects #FurnishedApartments #ConstructionProjects #ReThinkLiving #RealEstate #Hospitality #Hotel #Supplier #Contractor #CEO #CPO #PrioKitchen

The recent news at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA) underscores the prevalence of toxic workplace cultures, even in revered institutions. It's a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and solidarity. 💼 Toxic environments thrive in silence, and it's crucial to acknowledge and address such cases to empower those affected and prevent further harm. No individual, regardless of their position, should be exempt from accountability, and leadership must be held to the highest standards. 📢 The dismissal of top curator Robert Cozzolino has sparked public outcry, with over 500 art professionals and artists voicing their support for him. Their testimonies shed light on broader issues of employee mistreatment and disregard for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA) initiatives within MIA. 🛑 Transparency is paramount in addressing workplace grievances, yet MIA's leadership's reluctance to provide clarity raises concerns. Open dialogue and accountability are essential for fostering trust and maintaining the integrity of an organization. 🏛️ The arts community deserves institutions that uphold values of openness, creativity, and inclusivity. As Cozzolino puts it, MIA has the potential to be transformative, but this can only be realized through a commitment to transparency and accountability. 👉 Click the link to learn more about MIA's history with leadership issues and join the conversation on creating safer, more equitable workplaces in the arts. #Arts #Culture #Museums #VisualArts #Leadership #Board #WorkplaceCulture #Transparency #Accountability #Minneapolis #MinneapolisInstituteofArt #Termination #Community #Diversity #Inclusion #Equity
