There is a lot of gravity work happening these days, especially in and around the Athabasca Basin. When it comes to data quality, field efficiency, and project costs, you get what you pay for. We started offering gravity services in the early 90’s using the LaCoste & Romberg gravity meters. They were ‘state-of-the-art’ at the time but when we started pushing their limits, we quickly found them. We upgraded to CG5s in 2002 and soon had a fleet of 12 CG5s, and we shelved the L&Rs. The new quartz spring technology solved most of the data quality and production limitations of the old ‘zero-length’ metal springs in the L&R meters. In 2016 we started phasing out out the CG5 for CG6s and now have the largest fleet of CG6s in Canada. Data quality and field efficiency have increased again and overall project costs have decreased because we are able to collect higher quality data much faster. If you are planning a gravity survey, you need to stop by the Scintrex booth at the PDAC. The team there can explain why the instruments you chose to engage on your program can mean the between a program and a successful program.
Scintrex will be exhibiting at the 2024 Prospectors & Developers Convention in Toronto. Visit us at booth 1001. See you there.

Visiting OPEN'24 today to present my ideas and reflections on open source in the public sector. If you are there, let's talk ! https://lnkd.in/dYnPhWWF Open source, a driving force in our digital society, must step into the limelight once more. It's not just about promoting its adoption or principles; understanding its inner workings and the community dynamics is crucial. By harnessing the power of micro-communities, we can fully leverage open source to enhance public sector services. However, open source is currently under continuous threat, requiring a renewed commitment to its protection and advancement. As a tight-knit public sector family, we must elevate our efforts by reimagining how we engage with open source in a systematic manner. Now is the time to step up our game by forging bonds and building bridges to uphold the principles of openness and community-driven development that lie at the heart of open source. Let's work together to reimagine and shape a sustainable digital future for the public sector.

Communication, outreach and onboarding for op.europa.eu, raising awareness of the #disinformation war we are in. Promoting #EUOpenDataDays2025.
Great afternoon indeed. An edutaining and family twist on the traditional office summer party. Lovely way to share some of the aspects of our work with our kids who can wonder what we do exactly at the Publications Office of the European Union :)). ... they may not be alone 😀 In the pic we see our accessibility expert explaining what we do for web accessibility to a young person. The screen she is presenting shows emojis in a text. However fun emojis are, they are a real pain for the visually impaired and can be problematic for people who are neurodivergent. Our colleague gave us an example of the screen reader reading the text and it was not nice to listen to at all! She also explained what might be going through the mind of someone who is neurodivergent and the connections they may make. As a general rule, it's better to leave emoji until the end of a text, paragraph or line and use sparingly! Ideally, use them to add something to the meaning or a reaction, not just to make the text 'look nice'. Don't use them to replace text! See our #AccessiblePublishing guide for more info on op.europa.eu Emoji are a fascinating subject. Here are some good reads for example: Who (and with whom) uses more emoji? Family day in Luxembourg – a bonding moment for EU staff and their relatives! 👧 👦 Colleagues from the Publications Office of the European Union and DG CONNECT of the European Commission organised a family day at their premises in Luxembourg City. The event offered staff from both services the opportunity to showcase their work, and workplace, to their close ones. Visitors participated in guided tours and attended different stands (such as how to access trustworthy information about the EU) and workshops (on digital literacy, for instance). There were also quizzes, language-based games, face painting, kids’ disco, virtual reality and more. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. One of our colleagues shared this touching note to the organisers: “While we were getting out of the car park, my son told me, ‘Your workplace is really cool’. And it made me proud.” 📷 credits: Fotini Kaparelou and Pal Jancsok EU Digital & Tech Roberto Viola Hilde Hardeman

🌟 Big day today! 🌟 I’m excited (and a little nervous) to be one of the speakers at Fuckup Nights Madrid. If you know me, you know I love being on stage—public speaking has always been a passion. But today feels different. Why? Because I’ll be sharing a story I’m still a bit ashamed of. Vulnerability isn’t easy, but I know it’s a crucial part of growth. It’s funny how life works. My company recently offered us a course on creativity, but not in the way you might think—no paintbrushes or musical instruments involved. This was about creative problem-solving—finding innovative ways to turn challenges into opportunities. This course reminded me that no matter what life throws at me, I’ve always managed to find a creative path forward. It’s given me more peace with my mistakes, knowing that creativity is a powerful tool in navigating tough times. I’m still nervous about tonight, but I’m confident that sharing my story will not only help me grow but might resonate with someone out there who needs to hear it. Wish me luck! 🙌 #publicspeaking #creativity #growth #fuckupnights #learningfrommistakes #personaldevelopment
