BioCentury's 2Q24 Public Markets Preview is now available: The market is finally on its way back, with palpable interest from investors, my BioCentury Inc. colleague Stephen Hansen finds. Unsurprisingly, he says, M&A has underpinned much of the recovery, with the takeouts a validation for both specialists and generalists that the biotech market is much healthier after the grueling bear market. PIPEs have once again been harbingers of biotech's recovery -- this time though Stephen says they are playing an outsized role in funding biotech's comeback. At nearly $8B, 1Q24's PIPEs represented the biggest single-quarter total for these offerings since we began tracking biotech financings 30 years ago.
