Tonight SHOULD be an agreed commercial opportunity for Scotch Whisky. A massive, Global money spinner, with clear commercial focus. It's not crass, it's just a really sensible thing Scotland (and Scotch Whisky) should already be doing. We SHOULD have a day, to celebrate Robert Burns, of course but it COULD be a lot more than that. We ALREADY 'sort-of' celebrate Scotch Whisky today, so why not make it Proper? Official? Today makes perfect sense, the 'network' and 'events' are already there. Make Burns, Scotland's Scotch Whisky day, as well. As St Andrew's day is all over the shop and generally pretty low-key it would cost more to do it. Burns Night makes much more sense. The structure is already there. However, it's the usual 'Amateur Hour', with a definite spike in Scotch Whisky sales but accompanied by the usual, 'need to know', Secret Scotch stuff going on! It could be MUCH better. The Scotch Whisky game misses a real trick. Eh, We have SEVERAL 'Whisky' Days? say the Whisky Geeks. We don't need another. Agreed but nobody outside 'The Wormtub Mafia' knows when they are, or remotely cares anything about them! It's frustratingly crap. NONE of them have any Marketing Budget and none of them are remotely joined-up. It's an embarrassing jumble, where 'the Whisky bearderati' score cheap points off each other, suggesting THEIR 'Whisky/Whiskey' Day is the ACTUAL one. Real 'People's Front of Judea/Judean People's Front' stuff! It's hopeless. There are ALL grim. They're also NOT Today, (Burns Night) or even the other obvious one, St Andrew's Day. Scotland doesn't get close to the Irish-now-Global phenomena that is St Patrick's Day. Something Irish that grips the entire GLOBE! Can we have ONE agreed, properly- funded Scotch Whisky Day? Just One, sanctioned by The Scotch Whisky Association, VisitScotland and The Scottish Government? Oh, for the 'Al Jolson Set' on here, the picture below is PETE Burns, another Dead Poet from the North. It's an attempt at humour. #ScotchWhiskyDay #Burns #ScotchWhiskyTruths

#APTipTuesday – A question from the venue contact for an event we’re working on is the inspiration for this week’s tip. The contact asked what the three most important expectations are that we have of their staff. Although it’s rare that you’ll be asked this customer service-forward question, make it a point to let your venue contact and other vendors know how their team can be most helpful in ensuring the success of your event. To help formulate some thinking around how you might articulate expectations, here’s what we provided to the venue contact: 1. Quick, helpful, and friendly responsiveness to our questions/concerns onsite; 2. Great tasting and well-presented food; 3. Each venue team member is proactive in making each guest feel welcome and comfortable. #annplans #nonprofitteventplanning #tiptuesday #eventplanning

Tips on Networking with Other Bourbon and Beer Loving Community Champions: Networking doesn't have to be stuffy or formal. In fact, relaxed social settings like our bourbon and beer tasting event offer a unique opportunity to forge genuine connections. Here's how to make the most of it: ⭐ Be Authentic and Approachable: Let your true self shine. Your genuine enthusiasm for Habitat for Humanity's mission and your shared love of bourbon and beer will naturally draw people in. ⭐ Prioritize Quality Over Quantity: Focus on building a few deep connections rather than trying to meet everyone. Quality relationships are more valuable in the long run. ⭐ Listen More Than You Speak: Show genuine interest in others by actively listening to their stories and asking thoughtful questions. ⭐ Follow Up and Nurture Relationships: Keep the conversation going by reaching out after the event. A simple message or connection request can go a long way. Remember, networking is about building relationships, not just collecting business cards. By following these tips, you can create lasting connections that support our mission and benefit your personal and professional growth. Invite your friends, coworkers, and clients to join you in supporting our event and our community. A lifelong learner learning about life and riding the second curve | Brains in my head and feet in my shoes | 🟦
Reposting to my network. Hoping to see a lot of my local connections this evening. Too hot to go out? Nonsense! Beat the heat with a refreshing beverage and air conditioning provided by Duke Energy Corporation and the Harris Nuclear plant which has been safely and reliably splitting atoms since January 1987. No brownouts or blackouts in this crushing heat wave! Thank you Duke Energy. At the three outstanding energy events I’ve been to in the last couple of months (the University of Idaho’s Energy Executive Summit, the State Energy Conference of NC at North Carolina State University, and the 10th annual UNC Cleantech Summit at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), AI-driven electrification (what Diane Leopold from Dominion Energy referred to as “datafication”) has been one of the topics that dominated the conversation among the utility executives that I heard speak. The people I heard and spoke to at these three events are Thought Leaders for sure…but much more importantly they are Do Leaders. They are responsible for meeting customer demand, keeping the lights on and the air conditioners humming, and providing affordable energy to all those customers who are living paycheck to paycheck and are forced to choose what bills don’t get paid each month. A big tip of the cap to: (1) the three universities mentioned in this post for the vital role they play in the Industry/Academia/Government triple helix for energy and cleantech, and (2) the RTCC for being such an excellent convener and a facilitator of collaboration and discussion. One of my 2024 goals is to grow Liza's Loaves as a thought leader in challah baking, community building, and Southern Jewish life. ✨ The 3 things I did to prep for a 25-person Shabbat dinner: 1️⃣ Identify my spheres of influence to create an interesting mix of guests that aligned with my event goals - I intentionally invited people from all areas of my life. The varied mix of people would create interesting conversations and points of connection that I hoped would last beyond Shabbat. 2️⃣ Used my resources - I set up my Shabbat dinner on OneTable. The platform allowed me to collect RSVPs, access Shabbat resources, and financially supplement dinner. If you are looking to establish a Shabbat practice, definitely check out the organization! 3️⃣ Outsource where necessary - Food for twenty-five people is a lot. Food for this size group with a host whose worst fear is running out of food is even more food. I asked guests to bring certain items based on their last names. And smaller tasks? Take the easier path. A curated playlist on Spotify instead of one made by us, disposable plates to avoid even more dishes, and let your friends help you clean up. Our next gathering won’t be as big, but the hint is that we’ll be making hamantashen! 🔺🎭

Ah, the age-old question: what's the difference between a shamrock and a four-leaf clover? It's a question that has puzzled mankind for centuries. Okay, maybe not centuries, but it's definitely a question that comes up every St. Patrick's Day. I can't tell you how many times I've heard “Oh, look at the cute shamrocks!" when they're actually looking at four-leaf clovers. So, let's set the record straight: — particularly, because I’m using both in some of my branding and marketing. So, until next time we slosh some beers … “Is fearr Gaeilge briste, ná Béarla clíste” ( “Broken Irish is better than clever English” ) ☘️ What's a Shamrock? A shamrock is a three-leaf clover and is the symbol of Ireland. Legend say that St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish people. Yeah, I think I remember that fable. Each leaf of the shamrock represents a different part of the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It's a beloved symbol of Ireland and can be found on everything from t-shirts to mugs to keychains and cereal boxes. 🍀 How About a Four Leaf Clover? Four-leaf clovers, variation of the three-leaf clover and are believed to bring good luck. The chances of finding a four-leaf clover are about 1 in 10,000, so if you do happen to find one, consider yourself lucky indeed. Some people even believe that finding a four-leaf clover is sign that good fortune! ☘️🍀 To Sum It Up Shamrocks have three leaves and are the symbol of Ireland, while four-leaf clovers have four leaves and are believed to bring good luck. It's a simple distinction, but one that's worth knowing, especially if you're planning on celebrating St. Patrick's Day. And I’m so looking forward to day! Now, why do people always confuse the two? Mostly, it's just a matter of not paying attention. Seriously ☘️🍀 But other times, it's because people think that anything green and leafy must be a shamrock. And let's be real, when you're wearing green beer goggles on St. Patrick's Day, it’s s easy to get confused. So, there you have it: the difference between a shamrock and a four-leaf clover. And if you're ever in doubt, just remember: three leaves ☘️ for Ireland, four leaves 🍀 for luck. Here’s to a Happy St. Patrick's Day next weekend! “Sometimes, I’d rather be lucky than good.” — Stephen Carter King The Lesson: Be great today — everyone, and be “magically delicious!” Slàinte☘️! #Irish #StPatricksDay #ConsumerBehavior #BrandAwareness #EmergingTrends #BusinessIntelligence Source: The Irish Spring ✦✦✦ Stephen Carter King Chief of Growth and Marketing and Beerconomist + CEO of Beerconomy & Co. with beer market trends, analyses, and news Steve@KingsCrossing.com • Kings Crossing
