*Message from our PG&E Government Relations Representative (2/29)* "Good morning Suisun City Leaders, FYI, another winter storm is on its way as you may have already heard. Impacts look to be heaviest in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, but there could be some impacts within the Sacramento Valley. We have activated an Emergency Operations Center this morning to prepare for outages and other possible impacts to our infrastructure as we brace for another winter storm. We are anticipating a lot of rainfall and possibly some gusty winds. Our Meteorology team is tracking the storm, and there is a possibility of damage to our electrical system. That being said, we are making preparations to restore power to customers as soon as it is safe to do so. Crews will be on standby to support power restoration efforts. As in previous storm response, we must wait until the storm passes before we can safely send our crews out to do restoration work. Once the system passes, our crews do assessments of what work needs to be done, and then begin implementation of restoring power ASAP. Sharing this for your awareness on our process for restoring power during a severe or impactful storm. -Clay Merrill"

MCHD's Emergency Preparedness team would like to share the latest information from the National Weather Service. Confidence continues in a significant multi-hazard event expected across the area this evening through Tuesday. A plethora of significant impacts are expected with high winds, significant coastal impacts and the potential for significant severe storms. Impact 1 - Severe Thunderstorms • WHAT: Two rounds of strong to severe storms are possible with the potential for damaging winds in excess of 70 mph and tornadoes. A few strong tornadoes (EF-2+) will be possible. The second round will be the more substantial and higher confidence round. • WHEN: Greatest threat begins around midnight Monday and persists through Tuesday morning. Impact 2 -Marine Impacts • WHAT: Conditions will rapidly increase to widespread storm conditions (frequent gusts >48 knots) likely across all marine zones. Seas 13 to 17 feet offshore and 3 to 5 feet within the bays. • WHEN: Tonight through Tuesday night. Impact 3 - Wind Impacts • WHAT: Frequent wind gusts between 40 to 50 mph inland with wind gusts up to 60 mph along the coast. These conditions will likely lead to power outages and downed trees before any severe storms arrive. • WHEN: Tonight through midday Tuesday. Impact 4 - Coastal Impacts • WHAT: Dangerous surf up to 10-13 ft, dangerous rip currents, minor to potentially moderate coastal flooding. • WHEN: This evening through Tuesday

MCHD's Emergency Preparedness team is sharing this update from the National Weather Service: We continue to monitor for the potential for a few strong to severe storms today into Saturday across the forecast area. Storms will be capable of producing large hail and strong to damaging wind gusts. It's important to note that the evolution of the storms today will determine location and threat for storms on Saturday. It remains possible the storms today push a surface boundary offshore and fully removes the severe threat for the coastal counties Saturday, however confidence on this evolution is low at this time. Additionally, there is the chance for some heavy rainfall across the area Sunday that could result in localized flash flooding across southeastern Mississippi into southwestern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. Finally, some dense marine fog is expected across all bays, sounds, and coastal gulf waters out to 20 nautical miles through this morning and again this evening into Saturday morning.

Beryl's effects should motivate us to increase efforts to harden critical, lifesaving infrastructure like power and water. This is not the first extreme weather and climate-related disaster to strike Texas and other states, and it won't be the last. Winter Storm Uri left many Texas communities vulnerable in 2021, including #rural ones with inadequate preparation and few resources. We can and should do more. https://lnkd.in/e-UUbGui

Tropical Storm Debby Preparedness Emergency Preparedness Resources are available! Governor Youngkin has declared a state of emergency for Virginia so remember to monitor Weather frequently to stay informed and to understand how your specific area will be potentially impacted. Many broadcasts report that Tropical Storm Debby may bring heavy rainfall and flash flooding to Virginia. According to NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, the 2024 hurricane season, which started on June 1st, is expected to be above normal. This is a critical time to refer to the requirements of NFPA 70B to ensure preparedness in case a storm strikes, and electrical power is compromised. Annex K of 70B lists 11 event phases that should be addressed before returning an electrical system. This will ensure, not only a timely, but safe recovery post disaster.
