I know a lot of folks have been impacted by #layoffs and while there's no shortage of advice out there, I did want to share lessons I learned after being laid off. 1. Be on #linkedin early and often. There's no substitute for it in terms of job opportunities and #networking. 2. The most important piece of job searching advice I ever heard: "If you've only applied for a job without connecting to an actual human, YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED APPLYING. I can't stress enough how important this point is. Find a connection you know who works at the target company. Use LinkedIn to find the recruiter working on the job you want. You can usually do this by doing a LinkedIn search using the company name and "recruiter" or "talent acquisition." Then go into the each of the profiles and see if they posted about the role. 3. Preparing a strong application and prepping for an interview is an hours long process, but worth it. If you're doing it right, you should only be applying to a few jobs a day at most. 4. These are the resources I found the most valuable as I traversed #unemployment land: Career Contessa https://lnkd.in/dEekbh4E Austin Belcak's newsletters from Cultivated Culture https://lnkd.in/dCF3QyB6 Jeremy Schifeling's Break Into Tech (even if you don't want a tech job) https://lnkd.in/d_XaPgJN #careers #careeropportunities #jobpostings #hiringandpromotion
