I have been always drawn to communities, the togetherness of different kinds and yet sceptic about collectives. Some forms are inherited, such as religion or ascendency, like growing up in the Buenos Aires Jewish community; others are tendencies and curiosity, for me was choosing performing arts in all its forms - dance, theater, circus, puppet theater, you name it - as a way to connect with people. In this round, the academic or post-academic it feels a different twist. MEiA brings diversity and yet commonality of an intellectual-research kind that I deeply enjoy. And yet touches upon belonging, connection, and creating a space to meet - in a relatively new country and a learning arena. MEiA Gathering nr. 1
MEiA Alumni Gathering Dear all, We hope that you are enjoying the first signs of spring, now that nature is slowly awakening. With Spring in sight, our Alumni event is also coming up soon! If you want to participate and share (a part of) your practice, please send us your ideas, and propositions for this gathering, preferably before 25 February at the latest. In addition, we wanted to propose to consider this gathering on Friday, April 5 at Volkstuin West Rotterdam. as a low-key collective exploration of what a MEiA community could potentially look like. What needs and desires are present, and in which ways can we continue to create a connection between us? We will facilitate a group conversation to share ideas about how to bring this community to life. Let us meet and spend some time together while sharing food and thoughts, as simple as it can be. We are looking forward to meeting you (again) in the garden. Warmly, Natalia Amelia Saied, Jesse van Oosten & Ingrid Commandeur

𝐐𝐧𝐀 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬! Meet Lorna Vythilingum, Membership Director. 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: What strategies do you plan to implement to foster a strong and engaged Rotaract community ? 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫: First of all, I would like to create a welcoming atmosphere for new members by organising team-building activities and pairing them with mentors or fellow members. I believe this would make them more comfortable which would encourage them to interact with other Rotaract members to form personal connections. To further engage everyone in our community, I would like to collaborate with other Rotary clubs for mentorship programmes, community service projects and networking opportunities. This will not only contribute to the personal and professional growth of our members, but will also strengthen our relationship with other clubs. In this regard, it would foster a sense of purpose and shared values that will appeal to our members. Moreover, I intend to establish a feedback system to better understand member preferences, concerns, and suggestions so as to improve our service. Lastly, I intend to emphasize on the acknowledgement and appreciation of our members for their contributions through awards, certificates, or public recognition during meetings. I believe this would convey the sense of community ownership and engagement which is one of the values that our Rotaract preaches.

The events industry is a key part of the social and economic fabric of Scotland. 'Scotland: the perfect stage' was first published in 2008 as a strategy for supporting and further developing the events sector in Scotland. This has undergone an extensive review and renewal process to focus on where the sector will be by 2035. It has included a consultation process which took place this summer. We provided the analysis of this consultation which identified key themes and areas of focus. This work will input into policy development to help support this vibrant and exciting sector for the next 10 years. 📋 To read about our findings: https://lnkd.in/excD43kE 🎭 To find out more about our work in this area: https://lnkd.in/ergJ6rPu 📑 To read the full report: https://lnkd.in/e3A4j5cZ 👉 To find out more: Andy Parkinson VisitScotland #ConsultationAnalysis #WavehillResearch #Scotland #Events

The Melting Pot Edinburgh did a phenomenal job of hosting a series of events in 23-24 on the theme of 'Bridging Communities'. The Team built connections with 33 community groups and hosted almost 350 people across five different events. Why did events work? 1. If you look at the video (gorgeously shot and edited) from their conference earlier in the year, you'll see the investment in creativity. Doing things with a bit of 'pzazz' and colour reaps rewards. 2. People want to cross-pollinate. In our algorithm-ed world, we want to take time to find people who are 'not like us' and learn from them. 3. Relationships were real. This wasn't a quick, 'Hi, you don't know me but can we borrow your community to look like we co-designed'. This was genuine investment and mutual benefit. 4. Behind every sleek event is a range of skilled professionals who make it look easy, and often glossy and slick. Among them were Helen Denny and Anna Brow. 5. Conversations weren't taken for granted. Facilitators were poised and ready to help people connect. Well, that's all lovely. Where next? Have a watch of the video, digest the report and please, please get in touch with the team if you are able to sponsor or partner the next iteration of events. The future is all about turning energy into action.... #CommunityDevelopment #SocialEnterprise https://lnkd.in/dbKraBbX https://lnkd.in/d_qndeec
