Finally managed to listen to the 4th episode of the brilliant Mobilise Podcast by Sally Hogg featuring Sir Peter Wanless, talking about my favourite topic, systems reform. And what a treat to hear Peter talking so passionately about the work of Better Start and it being the closest he's got professionally to understanding what works for the system as a whole. For years we've been demonstrating the power of joined up decision-making, mature partnership working and governance arrangements that mean we collectively take decisions which are truly in the best interests of babies and young children. Whilst we're generating evidence and learning about programmes and interventions, we know that these won't work in isolation. We can, however, maximise the potential of evidence based programmes by co-producing with communities, triangulating science, data and lived experience and, crucially, transforming not only what we do but the way that we do it.
"It's not enough for us to dispense random acts of kindness... the real prize comes if we can test, learn and evidence, and inform the system more broadly as to what is possible". Peter Wanless, CEO of the NSPCC, talks to our University of Cambridge PEDAL podcast, Mobilise, about the role of charities in supporting research, development and innovation in public services. Episode 4 of my Giving Intelligence podcast just dropped yesterday. In this episode, I interview Josh Hertz of The People Concern. We talk about the unhoused in Los Angeles and some of the steps The People Concern is taking to address the issue. We then go on to discuss how Josh has used donations of real estate and retirement assets to allow donors to give more than might have been possible if they were just writing a check. https://lnkd.in/gi3FV69E For a complete rundown of past episodes or other platforms, please go to: https://lnkd.in/grvGUx6q #charitablegiving #philanthropy #financialplanning #legacyplanning

The episode of our podcast with the fewest listens contains some of the most important information for a charity running a Lottery. In this episode, we discuss creating a pipeline of Legacy givers by recruiting the right quality of donors. It's no surprise that fewer people have listened, as charities often focus on short-term results when it comes to Lottery or RG. However, evidence shows that quality F2F recruitment generates a pipeline of future Legacy givers. The question is, how can we shift the focus from short-term results to the long-term potential of our Lottery and RG products? Let's start a conversation on how we can give these products the long-term planning they deserve. Check out the podcast episode here: https://lnkd.in/ecFWnB4B
