I know this is looks a bit frivolous with all else going on in the world but I love Fashion Weeks, the brands, the celebrity spotting and seeing the trends quickly move from catwalk to high street. And of course it is Big Business: In 2024, France's apparel market is expected to generate $40.65 billion. Women's apparel is the largest segment, at $22.5 billion. (In comparison, the U.S. leads globally with $359 billion). Per capita revenue in France is projected at a stonking $627. Non-luxury sales will constitute 87% of the market in France, while the country continues to be the leader in luxury fashion, renowned for its heritage and brands epitomised by the iconic LVMH. In 2023, LVMH became the first European company to surpass a valuation of $500 billion. It is home to 75 maisons made up of 31 legacy houses (and conversely 6 less than five years old) across six different sectors: Wines & Spirits - Moët & Chandon, KRUG Champagne Veuve Clicquot; Fashion & Leather Goods - 14 maisons with 39M€ sales and the oldest house being Loewe founded in 1846 also Louis Vuitton (obvs) (case study: https://lnkd.in/ek_MaEkT), Fendi, CELINE and Christian Dior Couture; the vibrant, forever young Perfumes & Cosmetics including Guerlain, my favourite Acqua di Parma, Parfums Christian Dior, Fresh, Benefit Cosmetics and Fenty Beauty; Watches & Jewellery - the most recently established including Tiffany & Co. Exploring the Potential of Catalogues in Luxury Fashion: Examples and Insights With 2Jour Concierge, I work extensively with catalogues. I mean it. Lifestyle brands actively use this option as it is somewhat a necessity of the nature of business - items are usually made-to-order and there are no (or not many) physical locations. Luxury fashion also utilizes catalogues, albeit not actively and often without due attention. While catalogues may seem outdated, I see immense potential in leveraging them to better communicate with customers about the collection, thereby generating additional interest and sales. There are various practical ways to implement such an approach (I'm ready to share ideas through consultation, considering the necessary information to optimize its effectiveness). But for now, let's explore the catalogues themselves. I have a few examples to show you. These catalogues are usually shared by consultants with clients with whom they have a well-established relationship. Historically, the Medium Classic Flap has been a more affordable and accessible option when compared to the Birkin 25 however in recent years the pricing gap has drastically narrowed. From 2019-2024 the Classic Medium Flap bag has seen an increase of $5000 (86%) in contrast the Birkin 25 has seen an increase of $2000 (21%) Both brands represent the pinnacle of luxury fashion, each with a storied and loyal following however the bold pricing move from Chanel can be attributed to its drive to elevate its position to become the most luxurious and exclusive fashion house in the world.
