A few takeaways from yesterday’s DEI Leadership Summit at Berkeley College. First off, a huge thank you to Eve Cortes, CPC, ELI-MP for facilitating an amazing day. 💜 ✨Facilitate Inclusive Meetings Rather than setting out rules for a meeting, set an agreement at the beginning. Agreements are collaborative and lend space for conversation and resolution. Ask yourself: How do we want to contribute and work together? ✨Throw Glitter, Not Shade Use language to uplift each other, even when we disagree, like saying "Yes, and" instead of "No, but." ✨In Every Chair A Leader We are all leaders in our own way and we are here together for a reason. We are all important and we all have something to contribute.

One of the many things I love so much about working at BCC is how much support is genuinely offered to each employee to allow each individual the opportunity to turn their dreams into reality and nurture their professional growth and development. This creates stronger, happier employees, and stronger work relationships as well. I feel confident talking to my boss about my own professional goals, and it feels good to have someone backing you on a plan to help you grow in the direction of your dreams. Rebecca DeJesus (our Organizational Development Specialist) takes all of this to another level by facilitating these incredible Leadership Programs. These programs help #MakeItEasier to push yourself beyond your limits, to lead with confidence and become stronger for yourself and for your team!

Great leaders positively impact everyone around them. These words from Bill Hybels and his successor Craig Groeschel, as the drivers for The Global Leadership Summit, have resonated with me time and time again. As we navigate through unprecedented times, it's more important than ever to continue growing our leadership skills. Let's strive to be heroes in our workplaces and communities by intentionally and consistently improving our abilities.
