It’s exciting being on the organizing committee and seeing the speaker line up. I will be co-moderating the Efficiency First panel. Energy saving strategies in buildings can reduce energy demand by 35-50% so less energy of any kind is needed, and then a given amount of solar panels can power more buildings. National, state, and local organizations are training workers to make energy-efficient improvements and test them to provide verification. Many new jobs are being created in these easy to learn building sciences. Exchange ideas and learn more about it at SOLAR 2024
"The conference theme, 'Connecting Technology & Policy,' will promote the ASES mission to accelerate equitable solar adoption and universal sustainable living by educating and building community. It will focus on models and tools for negotiating the challenges to advancing renewables by following justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) principles. Never before is such a meeting needed in our nation’s capital, before the 2024 national elections for President and Members of Congress." - Scott Sklar, SOLAR 2024 Conference Chair, Adjunct Professor & Sustainable Energy Director of GWU’s Environment & Energy Management Institute (EEMI) and President of The Stella Group, Ltd, Learn more and register today at ases.org/conference!

In the new Gregorian year, I wish for a bright future for the Earth, powered by solar energy. Let the radiance of the sun reach every corner of the globe and bring a year full of energy and goodness to all people. Embrace a world that relies on clean and renewable resources, utilizing solar energy. In this year, let us unite for environmental conservation and combat climate change. Together, let's build a foundation for solar energy distribution worldwide, ensuring sustainability and a bright future. May the new Gregorian year illuminate all aspects of our lives with the light of the sun, bringing positive energy and hope to communities. With solar energy, we can contribute to clean and renewable electricity production, heating and cooling of buildings, sustainable transportation, and improving human lifestyles. I hope that in the new Gregorian year, we can help each other harness solar energy and create the best year for the Earth. Wishing for a year filled with progress, joy, and a bright future for all

Great to be apart of this (I am the afro on the left 😁) Very useful to me in my work at the Office of Sustainability on Thermal Energy Networks.
💪We had a full house at the NY Thermal Energy Network Summit! 👏Thank you to our keynote speaker Jessica Waldorf, our panelists, and attendees for joining us yesterday to discuss how we decarbonize NY’s neighborhoods by scaling up thermal energy networks. And thank you to our co-presenters, the New York State Pipe Trades Association and City & State, and our summit partners -- Alliance for a Green Economy, ALIGN: The Alliance for a Greater New York, New York Geothermal Energy Organization, New York League of Conservation Voters, New York State AFL-CIO, NYS Building & Construction Trades Council, Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter, UpgradeNY, and WE ACT for Environmental Justice -- for helping us organize a great summit. 📝Couldn't make it? Not to worry, stay tuned for our blog on the event soon!

Earlier this week at the 2024 Coastal Bend State of Energy Luncheon, I had the pleasure of participating on a CCS panel moderated by Jeffrey Pollack with Robert Hatter, Scot McClure, and Carrie Lalou. I enjoyed hearing the perspectives of various organizations and their roles in the CCS value chain and how we are working to ensure projects benefit the local communities, including GLO's role in funding K-12 education. 🏭 The Texas Gulf Coast plays a significant role in making the products and fuels that society needs, which in addition to emissions also gives us access to a world-class workforce, and the region has hit the jackpot with amazing pore space to sequester CO2. 🎰 💡 All of these factors have made Texas the ideal location for "bigger and better" CCS projects that can help decarbonize multiple sectors, like refining, chemicals, LNG, power, steel, cement, etc. However, when you capture CO2 off of a variety of sources, the CO2 is not all the same. Contaminants can have a significant impact on the system's design, which presents unique challenges - so how do you ensure that your project becomes successful? If you're interested in learning more, be sure to join Wood’s CCS specialists on August 28th to hear about common design risks and how to navigate them, with lessons learned from our experience implementing CCS solutions around the world. ➡ Register now: https://lnkd.in/gzn5fw-G Thanks to my co-panelists, Kym Bolado, Omar Garcia, Amanda Jenkins-Villarreal, and the attendees for a great conversation! I look forward to continuing the discussion and moving CCS forward in Texas. ⭐️

This week, BOEM Director Elizabeth Klein joined the 2024 Floating Wind Days conference in Haugesund, participating in the opening session on "Geopolitics." Learn more about the conference here: https://lnkd.in/gGussNPv With moderator Arne Vatnøy, Communication Manager for Norwegian Offshore Wind, Director Klein emphasized the critical role of offshore wind in combating climate change and highlighted the Biden-Harris administration's efforts to promote responsible development of floating wind resources. With about two-thirds of U.S. offshore wind potential in deep waters, floating wind technology is essential. The nation aims to deploy 15 gigawatts of floating wind capacity by 2035, powering over 5 million homes and aiding the country’s transition to a renewable energy future. These efforts promise significant economic benefits and can position the U.S. as a global leader in floating offshore wind industry.
What a day, what a crowd, what an industry 🤩 The opening day of Floating Wind Days = a room packed with passion for floating wind! 750 people from more than 20 countries are all windfluencers, aiming to drive the industry forward. Nothing beats that energy! Thank you to everyone who contributed in the program. We are so excited to have you all here with us these days in beautiful Haugesund! As CBS News and Stations notes, Super Bowl 2024 is"...a Super Bowl powered entirely by renewable energy — a first in the history of the event." Our climate team is pretty excited. How much better can it be than to have a Super Bowl powered by solar energy? Need we say more? 🏈😎 https://lnkd.in/g__464YN See what else the NovaTech Automation Climate Team is reading at keepitcool.earth : our journey of decarbonization.

Renewables are the answer to rising energy costs and pollution caused by #oilandgas giants. We need to cut our emissions by over two thirds to reach our 2030 #climatetarget, so it's time to ramp up our #wind and #solar production. Research shows #England has the potential to generate a whopping 13 times more renewable energy - enough to power our homes today. Plus, renewables like onshore wind are quick to set up and would mean cheaper, more secure energy. To see how #renewables are making an impact already, we joined the #GreaterManchester Community Renewables team at one of their school projects. Through the installation of #solarpanels at a local school the team are helping cut #energybills, reduce #carbonemissions and fund community grants. We also visited community members in Market Weighton and spoke to them about the impact their local #windturbine has had on the area. They share their views on the future of #renewableenergy. 🔻🔻🔻 Click/tap image below to see video on YouTube 🔻🔻🔻
