Our paper, "Generational differences in mental health trends in the twenty-first century", has just been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. We find that observed deteriorations in mental health are mainly driven by people born in the 1990s. The paper is available at https://lnkd.in/ez7wX7BT.

Reflective practice frameworks is the selected topic of this year's conference as it is such a crucial skill for counsellors, psychotherapists, and mental health professionals to possess. Applying reflective practice frameworks encourages practitioners in these professions to consistently engage in self-observation, self-evaluation, and critical reflection of their sessions with clients. The goal of reflective practice is to observe and refine your practice over time continuously, unlike practitioner research, which aims to address specific predefined questions or problems. Past mental health research lumps individuals from Asian American (AA) and international Asian (IA) backgrounds together, which may obscure important differences in mental health presentation and need. Researchers at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, examined these differences in a single university counseling center to better generalize these findings.
