Bolt-ing Towards New Horizons! 🚀 Hey there, After an incredible journey at Bolt, I'm stepping out of my current role and diving headfirst into fresh, exciting challenges. My story with Bolt has been nothing short of epic. I kicked things off as a regular user (customer), experiencing our game-changing services firsthand. I know all the quirks and perks that make our offerings special. Those "aha" moments? Yeah, I've had my fair share. Then, I decided to up the ante and became a builder, rolling up my sleeves to help craft and enhance the very tools and tech I once used. It's like going from spectator to star player! And now, I've proudly assumed the role of a stakeholder, where I've had the privilege of seeing the bigger picture and contributing to Bolt's incredible journey. It's been a blast, but you know what they say about comfort zones, right? Sometimes, you've got to switch things up to level up. That's why I've decided to embark on new adventures and tackle even more audacious challenges. I want to give a massive shoutout to my Bolt family Ali Khalid Rana, Sten Suitsev, Prateek Srivastava (He/Him), Lucas Daniel de Oliveira, Sergii Moliavko, Alex Sivkov, Mykola Mozghovyi, Andrii Pustovoit, Epp Sinisaar, Aleksandra Bergstein, Aastha Yadav, Karlis Auzins, Kadi Poll, Natasha Malik, Venus L. It's been a blast, and I'm leaving with a backpack full of memories and gratitude. As I gear up for what's next, I'm excited to connect with fellow movers and shakers, brainstorm wild ideas, and stir up some Bolt-like lightning in a new space. Something I have started to value much more over the past years: ✨ The PEOPLE, the culture, the relationships ✨ Enjoying my 5th year at Bolt, I've come to deeply appreciate the culture, relationships, and most importantly, the PEOPLE. My colleagues in our office(s), my teammates, people I collaborate on projects. People I can share similar hobbies and interest (recent hobbies shared with colleagues: winter swimming & snowboarding) people from all over the world with such cool and eye opening stories and my work friends, yes FRIENDS! A special kind of bond develops and grows over time with people you share the same struggles, challenges, wins, laughs, tears, frustrations and success. Some I've had by my side the past 1605 days! Wow! Here's what I've learned about work relationships so far: ⚪ Invest time and effort. Like any valuable relationship, these connections require nurturing. Take 10 minutes to hear about a colleague's trip, challenges in furnishing their new home or the new PR in the gym. No-one is too busy or important for genuine connection. ⚪ Support and be supported. Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness, like I used to think. A 15-minute conversation with someone who can offer a fresh perspective, especially from a different team, can be a game-changer. ⚪ Embrace the collective. We spend 40 hours a week with these people - a significant chunk of our lives! Investing in work relationships, can boost mood, productivity, and overall well-being, at least that's been my experience so far. Let's speak about number 5. Today is Bolt's 5th birthday 🎂🚀. Well, it's a little bit older, but 5 years ago we rebranded from an already well-established Taxify name (which was already 5y old). I remember it quite well, as I joined just after. At that time many were surprised we did it, that it was too risky, and asked many whys. But the reason was simple and well explained by our CEO Markus Villig - Bolt is not just a taxi(fy) company. Bolt has become a global company that changes cities and makes them better for people, not cars. Today we operate in ~50 countries across the globe and have 150M+ customers 🌍! And why 5 is a special number for us? We now have 5 main verticals: 🚕 Ride-hailing 🛴 Scooters (and bikes) 🍔 Bolt Food 🥕 Bolt Market 🚗 Car-sharing But why all this? My decision to join Bolt wasn't that easy either. I left Spotify (also an amazing workplace), moved to another country, and joined when our Data Platform (and data itself) was relatively small. You may ask me, was it worth it? Hell yeah - yes. I still enjoy every day working at Bolt 🕺. Let me give you 5 reasons: 1. I'm surrounded by the best #talents in the world (truly, as our employees represent 100+ nationalities). 2. I work on real #products, that my family and my friends can use every day, and they love it. 3. We call us honeybadgers. #honeybadger is not the biggest, strongest, or fastest animal in the jungle. But it is the most fierce. Nothing can stop us, we will get things done. Often taking on challenges others deem impossible to beat, but delivering through. 4. We are building a world-class #dataplatform with 5 teams: Ingestion, Compute, Insights, ML Platform, and Experimentation (don't forget we're #hiring, link in the comments). 5. We do care about our #wellbeing and #fun, and as you may already know, #dogs help us to achieve it. This week I visited the Tallinn office. I met my new lovely friend Malko 🐶. See how well-mannered he is, waiting patiently for his caregiver Quentin Legrand to come back from the kitchen (where little 4-legs friends are not allowed 😊). 🚀 Reflecting on my journey with Bolt so far, I would like to share some of the valuable experiences and skills I have gained during last 4 months. ✨ Safety Features: I had the opportunity to learn about various safety features and closely monitor their functioning. Collaborating with the international global team and product team exposed me to new perspectives. Additionally, I have the opportunity to bring new ideas to life on daily basics and enhance our safety protocols, ensuring our riders and drivers feel secure at all times. 🌍 New Cities Launches: One of the most exciting challenges was launching Bolt ridehailing services in six new cities, including Sanok, Krosno, and Przemyśl, where the launch took place last week! This responsibility gave me a sense of ownership and helped me hone my soft skills. 📊 Cities Budgeting Management: Managing the budgets for cities has been an eye-opening experience. It increased my understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) and the dynamics of demand and supply in the ride-hailing sector, as well as sharpened my skills in estimation and analysis. 🤝 Improved Account Management Skills: Consistently engaging with fleets has helped me enhance my account management skills. Building and maintaining these relationships has been both challenging and rewarding, providing valuable experience that I will carry forward in my future career. 🔍 Data-Driven Analysis: My role involves conducting analyses, which help make data-driven decisions. This experience has created a bridge between my academic background and practical application, utilizing statistical and econometric skills. Bolt is a place for anyone looking to work in a forward-thinking, dynamic company with great atmosphere and reliable people.

Latvians know Estonians are slow. So as I celebrate my 2 year anniversary at Bolt, I'd like to finally share some of my thoughts about working here. I'm not used to sharing on LinkedIn, but in case people like I was before Bolt are still out there, I'd like to say don't lose hope, as great workplaces do exist. And Bolt is definitely the best place I've worked at. Many things like yearly salary reviews, not having to come in during your vacation, or professional internal communication should really be the standard everywhere. Bolt has gone well beyond that, so it's no wonder it's one of the top employers in Estonia. I knew Bolt was on another level from the minute I joined as I was handed a brand-new MacBook. Having previously worked with laptops that electrocuted me, I was completely shocked (figuratively). I'm happy to be working in a leading company with so many intelligent people who help me grow professionally and are also very fun to be around. I didn't know you could still make new friends as an adult, let alone at work. It may occasionally get hectic here, but I prefer the growth-oriented, meaningful and well-compensated work to a cushy job. Bolt also has many operating principles that I resonate with, like extreme pragmatism, not sacrificing long-term value for short-term results, short-term pessimism/long-term optimism and low bureaucracy. There are many things I could add, but let's just finish with thanks to everybody involved and a special shoutout to Indrek Vändrik, who encouraged me to apply. Thanks!

Bolt to launch 🛴's across the Atlantic 🇺🇸 Rumour has it that the European #ridehailing giant, Bolt, is looking to expand its #micromobility vertical in the USA based upon recent job postings across several large 🇺🇸 cities including LA, Seattle & Texas. If true, this is an interesting move from Bolt, as typically they only enter markets where they are operator number🥇 or 🥈 for each of there verticals (🚖, 🛴 & 🍟). What makes it more interesting, is when you look at the competitive landscape in the US... 👀 Bolt are entering a territory where there brand name isn't recognised and worse already has a bad reputation thanks to the scooter company founded by Usain Bolt ⚡️, Bolt Mobility, going bust and leaving 100's of scooters scattered across US streets. This could be a tough narrative to overcome for both cities and users. 🚖 Two of Bolt's largest ridehailing competitors, Uber and Lyft, already have significant marketshare in the shared micromobility space following Uber's backing of Lime 🛴 & Lyft's acquisition of Motivate LLC & PBSC Urban Solutions 🛴 Superpedestrian & Bird recently announced bankruptcy causing their vehicles to be pulled from the market, however, Bird played the Phoenix card thanks to restructuring to create a new private parent company called Third Lane Mobility Time will tell if this is an exploratory exercise, like the report Bolt x TIER Mobility merger or Bolt's first foray into the US market where perhaps their ridehailing offering may follow... Audit all receipts instantly, just like a taxi and then talk about fairness. All the fleets that are your intermediaries have the same business model that you teach, based on tax evasion, every 6-7 months they transfer their activity to a new company, why? To avoid paying taxes!!! Allow access to the application to drivers, who do not have documents specific to carrying out these activities, who do not have a valid employment contract.... On the surface #RTO directives can seem like a blanket, one-size-fits-all approach, but this video about Lyft's return to office highlights just how nuanced #RTO can be. Yes, Lyft is asking employees to be in office 3 days a week. BUT, they're doing so with an emphasis on flexibility and productivity. They're not tracking arrival time, or total length of time in the office. pre #onboardingexperience I reach a two-year milestone in a few weeks with ŌURA and I reflect on my pre-onboarding experience that helped to assure my decision (I declined a strong competing offer and really liked the CEO). I generally like to reach out to employees not part of my immediate team for the company I'm joining. How welcoming are they for strangers about to join? Well, many Ouranians responded with supportive tips including this one: JAN 16, 2022 Ginny I'll be joining Oura to lead the TA team in February. This is my first time to be onboarded virtually so I wanted to connect with some future co-workers. Excited to join and welcome tips that can help me get acclimated quicker to support the growth of Oura. JAN 18, 2022 Manbir Sodhia Nice to connect with you! I appreciate you reaching out. Some early ideas for welcome tips: 💍 If you haven’t used Oura before as a consumer - try to get your free ring as early as you can before you join. It helps to have used the product for at least 1 or 2 weeks before your onboarding (in my opinion). If it won’t arrive before you start, then ask a few folks to explain how the product works and how they bake it into their daily lives. Then you can compare what other people say about it as you form your views. 🗓 I recommend carving out “Focus Time” on Google Calendar as soon as your first week…and making a habit of using that feature. Your calendar will get overwhelmed with intro meetings and recurring team meetings. It’s important to carve out your space and stay in control of it. 🥗 Make sure to get your DoorDash work account set up right away when you start. The free lunch on Friday is awesome. I always choose the “pick up” option and I get my food from restaurants nearby the house. I save a ton of money, and I earn DoorDash credits every week.
