I know the idea of a 4 day work week has become an intriguing discussion of recent and I reviewed this article that provides a few reasons. One that stuck out to me is how AI is helping make a 4 day work week plausible in the form of productivity. Do you think AI can reduce work weeks nationwide or globally? Late night thoughts. Here is the article: https://lnkd.in/gJsxWHK8

AI is opening the door to a four-day work week That’s most importantly of all, sustainable. There’s been a lot of talk about whether a four day working week is really a viable option. Many people are concerned that eliminating the fifth working day would increase workload and stress for the remaining four, but thanks to AI, you theoretically CAN have the best of both worlds. I’m talking a four day work week, with no changes in workload or productivity. In fact, it might even make things easier… Research by the thinktank Autonomy found that: 🔹 Projected productivity gains from the introduction of AI could reduce the working week from 40 to 32 hours 🔹 Pay and performance would remain the same 🔹 Millions of workers (88% of the British workforce) would benefit 🔹 The areas said to benefit most are London, Elmbridge and Wokingham as they apparently hold the highest potential for workers to reduce their hours in the coming decade. What does this all mean? AI isn’t a tool to be feared in the workplace ❌ It might actually spark a huge shift towards a better work-life balance - and I think that’s long overdue. The only downside is that this study projects the changes to not take effect until 2033, but with how quickly the world of AI is advancing, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw the impacts much sooner. That is, however, only if employers agree. Call me cynical but I doubt many companies would be eager to jump on board with this idea... What do you think? (I’ve included a link in the comments to the original study where you can read more!)

4 day work weeks are back in the news! New results from trials across Europe have come and have further confirmed what we knew before: this working model results in happier, less stressed and better rested workers. This time, the trials tested out the 100-80-100 rule, and it seemed to be a winner. Check out even more of the results with us👇 #4dayweek #4dayworkweek #fourdayweek #cx #ex #cxcommunity

Imagine working just 3 hours a day, or 15 hours a week. That is what leading 20th century economist John Maynard Keynes predicted in 1930. The prediction came 4 years after Henry Ford introduced the 5-day work week into his factories, changing the world of work forever. However since the 1930s not much has changed in terms of average length of our working weeks. 4 Day Week Global are changing that, through research, pilot programs and partnering with National Partners across six continents to meaningfully reduce working time. Consider becoming a sponsor of our work and join us in creating a million years of new free time. https://hubs.li/Q02F04qt0

We’ve had enough, we’re challenging traditional views... Last week we attended a peer group session held by MDHUB led by Helen Bailey discuss the concept of a 4-day work week. In principle it sounds wonderful, same pay, one less day of work but what’s the reality? In 2022 researchers from Cambridge University ran the world’s largest four-day week trial and found that working one day fewer increased productivity, reduced burnout, and increased wellbeing. Seems like a no-brainer but lots of questions came up for us; what would the perception of others be? How would we manage client expectations? How would the other 4 days look like? What would it mean for the business as a whole? We also acknowledged the privilege that comes with the choice to even work 4 days a week. However, it did get us thinking, how could we experiment with how we use our time to ensure we show up as our best selves for our clients? We’re a small, agile, remote first business so we’re in a unique position to be more purposeful in the way we work. How could that look? Watch this space! #challengetradition #mdhub #fourdayweek #wellbeing #flexibleworking #hustlehouse #leadershipdevelopment
