Liebherr is leading the way to closing the loop and creating a more sustainable future. Automated dismantling of EV batteries is the first step to increasing safety and lowering recycling costs.
Previously, we've delved into the federal project "ZIRKEL," which examines the circular economy of traction batteries. This #TechTuesday, we're thrilled to provide an in-depth look!
Embark on a detailed exploration with us through our latest video. Witness the assembly of e-vehicles at the Volkswagen plant in Zwickau, and gain insights into the complex challenges associated with the efficient utilization of finite resources. At the OHLF - Open Hybrid LabFactory e.V. in Wolfsburg, explore the core of the project, focusing on the transition from manual to automated processes for opening high-voltage batteries at the Salzgiga Battery Hub and Liebherr.
Immerse yourself in advanced technologies and gain a comprehensive understanding of the project's technical intricacies.

💡Did you know that the first 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫 powered a boat on the Neva River in St. Petersburg on September 13, 1838? It was developed by the German-Russian physicist Moritz Hermann. However, the boat only traveled at 2.5 kilometers per hour.
More interesting facts and 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫 can now be found in our new blog series "𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤...." For example, we explain why there are asynchronous and synchronous motors in electric cars and what the advantages of each are. Together with its partners GROB-WERKE GmbH & Co. KG and Manz AG , Dürr will offer complete #battery factories in the future. In doing so, they will cover the entire value chain from the cell to the finished storage unit ✅.
The range of technologies required for this is a unique selling point of this business partnership – no other European provider has a comparable offering.
Did you know that physicist Alessandro Volta already invented the battery in 1800? 🔋 Swipe left for more interesting facts and have a look at our article in our #ECOmagazine to learn about the battery production process: https://bit.ly/4dg56C1 👈️📎.

1. People work with people they trust.
2. People buy from people they trust.
3. Repeat.
My project at Polytech is ending soon, and I look forward to revealing what I and other great people have been working on in the past many months hence my colleague Marc Foldager's post. So make sure to follow Polytech to be the first to know.
Trust builds trust via openness, transparency, and willingness to cooperate across business units instead of staying in the traditional department trenches where sales are overpromising to customers and R&D will not commit to a product roadmap. Meanwhile, marketing is stuck in the middle with a launch plan that will hardly fly.
At Polytech, they do it differently. Having a shared and aligned go-to-market plan where all stakeholders across the organization have a say and concerns and opportunities are openly discussed. This fosters trust and confidence in the solution and people who are responsible for product development, validation and sales.
So Polytech, Thorbjørn N. Rasmussen, and the rest of the team, thank you for the trust 🙏 . I am confident this innovation will make a true positive difference in the market.

What impact will electromobility have on foundry companies like us? 🤔
A transformation in mobility brings changes - without question. But what do these changes look like?
The "Casting technology and e-mobility" conference will address this question precisely. The conference will present how casting technology processes, production methods and value chains are changing as a result of the electrification of the powertrain and what this means for the positioning of foundries on the market.
As a foundry company and partner to the automotive industry, we are dealing with exactly these questions and are one of the 5 exhibitors on site. Our trade fair team Carolin Neumann and Martin Seidel will be talking to experts on 📆 June 10 and 11 about how we are mastering this change and supporting it as a prototype supplier.

👀 Let’s discover the WMTR project funded by the GREEANDOPT call.
➡ WMTR aims to to reuse materials that are currently considered as waste in the aeronautics industry and are buried at the end of the production chain. The ambition is to reuse these materials in sectors other than their initial destination, in order to avoid using new materials. The approach is not limited to the reuse of these materials, but aims to build an optimal process for reusing them. Alternatives to the processes used in the aerospace industry can be found if the performance requirements are different in other sectors. In this way, less energy-intensive processes could be put in place depending on the needs of the sectors concerned. The pilot line to be built aims to produce more accessible composite prostheses to give amputees greater access to sport. Optimising the energy cost of this production line will lead to a database that can be used to match a need with an energy-optimised process using reused materials that can be applied in different sectors.
🥇 Congratulations to SISCO COMPOSITES and Hopper for this promising project and good luck in its implementation!
