And that’s a wrap! 🤗 Our UK Market Day event was a resounding success, providing Estonian companies with valuable insights into export and FDI strategies for the UK market. Today’s event was a tangible result of an extensive collaboration process, funded by the NextGenerationEU, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, EASi ja KredExi ühendasutus and various stakeholders have worked together to deliver support and assistance to accelerate export to the UK. The day’s highlights included: 🔹 opening remarks by MFA and Enterprise Estonia representatives: Priit Kallakas, Piret Sauter, and Arvo Anton; 🔹 insightful sessions on market entry strategies and export opportunities by UK experts Heiki Pant, Agaate Antson, and Stefan Haase; 🔹 a dive into how to raise investments from the UK presented by Robert Lang from Invest Estonia; 🔹 inspiring stories from Estonian businesses like Salv and GScan that have already successfully navigated the UK market; 🔹 an engaging panel discussion, including Ross Allen, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Estonia, and a Q&A session; 🔹 networking lunch and tailored consultations across various focus sectors. The event marks a significant step for Estonian enterprises looking to expand into the UK market. Big thank 🤝 you to our partner Whitecap Consulting and all the companies and industry experts who have contributed to this process. The UK Market Day was the first of its kind from a series of events by MFA to continue supporting Estonian companies as they navigate their journeys of growth and expansion. Josselyn Chau, Assistant Researcher, 團結香港基金 Our Hong Kong Foundation, wrote a commentary on 香港01 regarding revitalization of the Ex-Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir (the Reservoir) and protection of its unique cultural icon. Given the Development Bureau is reviewing the conservation and revitalization of the Reservoir, Josselyn recommended considering transformation of the Reservoir into an exhibition and performance venue. Since heritage is popular among the citizens, if arts elements can be included by the government for establishment of a site-specific theater, the heritage will be extra enthralling to visitors. Josselyn suggested the government to expand consultation with the arts sector for exploring how to retain the original appearance of the Reservoir while revitalizing it into a site which integrates culture, art, and history. Furthermore, its one-of-a-kind cultural feature are worthy of conservation, owing to a close connection between human and the environment is embodied. In addition to a one-time mega event, forming a deeper cultural ambience is one of the main factors that attracts tourists. Read the Article: https://bit.ly/4aXbImk

One wouldn't usually expect almost any given European to be familiar with a small Luxembourg community with barely more than 5,000 inhabitants. But if that community is Schengen, well, things are different. The Schengen Agreement was first signed in 1985 – by Germany, France, and the BeNeLux countries, aboard a passenger ship at berth in Schengen – and entered into force in 1995. And ever since then, traveling in Europe has been so much easier for many people. But what about the village of Schengen itself? Well, it has the European Museum and a number of European Monuments (including pieces of the Berlin Wall, no less!), but also a castle with baroque gardens and a church which also contains a nod to Europe: for the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Schengen Agreement, an icon was commissioned depicting the patron saints of Europe and the twelve stars. #citiesofeurope #europeanunion #schengen Image by Pixabay
