How #FERC's new #TransmissionRule #Order1920 could have a big impact on the South: "The new FERC transmission rules bring much needed transparency and rigor to the existing planning process, which has been in place for over a decade and failed to produce much in the way of results, particularly in the South...Unlike much of the country, the Southeast lacks a regional transmission organization or an organized wholesale energy market, which take much of the planning and pricing out of the hands of utilities. Clean energy advocates say this has caused the South to lag behind when it comes to infrastructure upgrades and renewable energy. FERC’s new transmission rules were welcomed by advocacy organizations including the Clean Energy Buyers Association and the Southern Renewable Energy Association."

Implementation Direction for the HRFN LPP, Gundy Plan and Offsetting for BCER The Offsite Environmental Mitigations Guideline is a reference for energy companies and affected parties to understand offsite environmental mitigation requirements. It outlines the minimum standards for these mitigations but does not replace existing legislation. The guideline supports compliance with the Energy Resource Activities Act (ERAA) and may be updated to align with evolving environmental and regulatory priorities. Compliance with all legal obligations remains the responsibility of permit holders, and offsets are anticipated to become more common in northeastern British Columbia. Recent Updates: On July 22, 2024, Order in Council 532/2024 was enacted, introducing the HV1-C Gundy Complex Plan and the Halfway River First Nation Landscape Planning Pilot. This Order amends the Blueberry River First Nations Agreement Regulation and implements offsite environmental mitigation provisions from the Oil and Gas Activities Amendment Act 2018. The air quality analysis, conducted by EPA, showed that the impacts on air quality from the construction and operation of the #offshorewind project will not cause or contribute to a violation of federal air quality standards. EPA’s approval is in concert with other federal approvals and actions for the project, including the issuance of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s (BOEM) Record of Decision.
