It is a book that looks at the human need to be cared for from the perspective of the fine dining industry. The author focuses of how to uncover "the magic in our work" to benefit ourselves, the people we work with and most importantly, our clients. Perhaps this employee read this!
This past week I attended a conference and almost canceled due to a knee issue. As I gingerly walked to my room, a hotel representative noticed me and asked if he could help me with my bags. We chatted and I explained my slow and steady gait and why I was there. He then took me back to the lobby where he proceeded to change my room to one closer to the conference center and near the elevators. He also upgraded my room to one with a balcony and a view of their evening laser show since I mentioned doubts that I would be able to do much walking outside of the conference. He then filled my ice bucket so that I could ice my knee if I needed to and wished me well. One of the speakers at the conference discussed the nuances between care and caring. In this instance, the hotel representative did both and I will never forget his kindness. Thank you. #OrlandoWorldCenterMarriott
