I wonder how the battery will only have “clean energy”. Will it be directly fed from solar and/or wind farms or will it draw its power for storage from the grid. I also wonder how long the 291 Mwh will power how many homes if and when needed. And how cost effective is this - what does the SA Government/SA Power Networks pay for the ability to draw on this battery and how does that feed into SA’s retail power bills? Effectively SA consumers will have to cover the capital and operational costs of the battery somehow.
Member for West Torrens • Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Energy and Mining • Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly
The construction of SA’s second-largest battery at Templers - just 60km north of Adelaide - is yet another step forward on the road to creating a cleaner, greener future. This battery will deliver 291 MW/h of clean energy whilst enhancing grid stability AND will create over 180 local jobs helping boost our economy. Now that’s a battery!

CEO of Rewiring Aotearoa. ⚡️🍒 grower from Central Otago looking to electrify NZ one machine at a time. Previously a cofounder of Fishburners and GradConnection in Sydney
This is going to be an awesome opportunity to explore how we use the inevitable energy transition to New Zealand’s trade advantage. Aotearoa has an incredibly rich history of electric innovation. Did you know…? - the first public electric street lights in the world were in Reefton 💡 - The technology used in geothermal power stations around the world was created here in NZ and we created the first practically scalable prototype⚡️🌋 - We had the first transmission line in the southern hemisphere 🔌 - We then went one better and created the largest and longest undersea HVDC cable at the time that linked the North and South Islands to create our national grid. ⚡️🌊 Now is the time to write the next chapter. The one we’re we create the worlds first electric economy, where our communities 🏘️ benefit from cheap renewable energy and out trade benefits from world leading climate action.
The BNZBA is delighted to partner with Mott MacDonald to invite you to hear an expert panel address the opportunities and the challenges of electrification that will significantly impact our businesses and our home lives. The electrification of Aotearoa New Zealand presents many opportunities but the transition to a low emissions energy system also brings challenges in areas such as reliability, affordability and productivity. Our panel features Mike Casey Pete Grogan Tamara Linnhoff Paul Currie and will be moderated by Dr Victoria Hatton. Join us at the Mott MacDonald offices in the Wynyard Quarter on 12th September from 4pm. More information and registration here: https://lnkd.in/gqdwTKwJ #electrification #netzero #renewableenergy

Most buildings standing today will still be in operation in 2050. Retrofitting existing buildings to be all-electric is not just a nice to have – it's essential. That’s why we released Australia’s first guide to electrification of existing commercial buildings. Developed in partnership with Cundall, and supported by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and the NSW government, it includes: ✔ A step-by-step breakdown of how to approach retrofitting ✔ Case studies of projects that have led the way ✔ An overview of the technologies that are available now The future is electric ⚡ Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g7XTTvHh

In light of this morning’s election results, what new regulations could be put in place as a step towards clean energy in the UK? And how might this be implemented on a practical level? This topic, and more, was discussed at Buro Happold’s London office earlier this week as part of an Insider Media event – ‘Mapping the route to clean energy’. Alasdair Young, Partner and Global Energy Transition Leader, Buro Happold, was part of the roundtable of industry experts. Discussing the route to clean energy, many topics were covered. The group agreed that, in order to meet net zero nationally, decarbonising the grid was of the upmost importance to improve investor confidence, and enable investors to see grid connections for whole developments. The need for reforming the perception on renewable energy was also discussed – both from corporate consumers on the grid capacity and price, as well as the general public. The group delved into technologies that are key for unlocking sustainable innovation, including improving energy efficiency in buildings, as well as policy regulation and creating certainty around planning licensing and forward investment. Alasdair, in a Business Briefing video with South East Business Insider Editor Saptarshi Ray, summarised the three key takeaways from the session, which included upgrading the grid for future needs, unblocking planning, and as Alasdair said, “building support for consumers, how they can get involved and how they can benefit from the energy transition, and that will get the UK economy motoring as well.” Watch the video below for more details. #cleanenergy #UK #energyreform #election #windpower #solarpower #sustainabletechnologies #innovation #development #investment #engineering #BuroHappold #energyreform #grid #forwardinvestment #renewableenergy #energy

DeepWind member, Haventus Limited , have kicked off the development of our largest port site at Ardersier Port with an initial 650m quayside project. Ardersier is part of the Inverness & Cromarty Firth Green Freeport and one of Freeport’s major tax sites. The video below also shows the proposed manufacturing base for one of our other members, BW Ideol’s concrete floating foundations which, so far, is the only floating wind substructure facility to have secured such a site. Even though the BW Ideol manufacturing facility would have a significant footprint it is, in turn, dwarfed by the sheer scale of the 450 acre Ardersier site. Ardersier is leading the way with the use of concrete for floating wind substructures but is only the first of a number of such sites in Scotland. While many developers are looking at steel substructures most have at least one concrete option in their shortlist. With a supply chain that is almost 100% local content and a strong track record in the oil and gas industry, concrete is a strong contender as a construction material for floating wind. DeepWind is planning to repeat our Concrete Substructures event from October last year, again, just ahead of this years Floating Offshore Wind 2024 event in Aberdeen. Will we see you there? #floatingwind #scotwind #celticsea #energytransition #oilandgas #scotland #concrete #portinfrastructure
With construction now well underway at Ardersier Port, Haventus Limited CEO, Lewis Gillies explains the short- and long-term ambitions for the #EnergyTransition facility, and the fundamentals behind the development of what will be the country’s largest dedicated #OffshoreWind deployment site. Watch the video below to hear Lewis introduce Haventus and how we plan to support the UK and Scotland’s energy transition and #NetZero goals. Earlier this week we posted about battery storage in California, now on to the east coast. Having a full view of energy across North America is imperative for analytics, reach out to help@mapsearch.com to learn more about our offerings to support your needs #bess #california #gis #MAPSearch #ENvision
This May, the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and the New York City Industrial Development Agency (NYCIDA) announced the finalization and closing of the East River Energy Storage Project. The battery storage project will be New York’s largest battery storage power plant. The East River Energy Storage Project will consist of a battery storage capacity of 100 megawatts and is projected to be constructed along the East River on an industrial site in Astoria, Queens. The following announcement to proceed with the battery project is the result of the previously revealed New York City’s Green Economy Action Plan. The goals of the New York City’s Green Economy Action Plan include promoting a green economy within the state of New York, increasing the amount of green energy related jobs, and adopting tax incentives towards the installation of battery storage projects. #BatteryStorage #GreenEnergy #NYCEDC #NYCIDA #EnergyStorage #PowerPlant #ElectricPower #GreenEconomy #NewYork #MAPSearch #ENvision
