Prep the candles. Get the cake ready. And let’s sing Happy Birthday because this year, Brisbane Airport is marking its 100th anniversary. ⏪⏪ In 1925, the Commonwealth Government officially opened Eagle Farm Aerodrome on 36 hectares of agricultural land. ⏩⏩Since then, Brisbane and its airport have grown a lot together. To celebrate 100 years of flying in and out of Brisbane, we’ll be turning the pages of our history each fortnight sharing the milestones from a centenary of air travel. Follow along and let’s celebrate our long history, the generations of people who have worked here, and the many ways the airport has played a key role in the lives of Brisbane families. But enough about us this #FlashbackFriday. You go first. Tell us, when or what was your first airport memory? Yes what a exciting moment 100 years not many people around any more to remember. We still do when we arrived in Brisbane 1980 this year in June 45 years ago we where a part of the new Brisbane’s airport for the reclamation . The Dutch group Ballast Nedam & dredging group DI .the mighty biggest dredge in the world the Humber River and the the small cutter dredge the Wombat started dredging with up to a pipeline of 12 km long to pump the sand from the middle banks Moreton Bay to a small dumping area buggy creek to the now exciting Brisbane airport .and from this group of people are still many around .cheers happy Newyear .capt .kasper.kuiper.

1moMy Airport Memories condensed. My first visit to Brisbane Airport was in April 1966 stepping off a Viscount from Sydney after arriving from England. In February 1972 I started with D.C.A as an apprentice Motor Mechanic. From there I went to Rockhampton Airport, then to Horn Island Airport. I returned in December 1987 to commence with F.A.C which later morphed into B.A.C where I stayed until 2020 when I took a redundancy. I loved my career, in Aviation, on the Airports.
