Updates on the EU-Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), as the European Commission proposes a 12-month delay, as well as publishing additional guidance and a stronger international cooperation engagement framework - to support global stakeholders, EU Member States and other countries preparing to implement the EUDR. If the additional 12-month phasing-in period is approved by the European Parliament and the Council, the law would now be applicable on 30 December 2025 for large companies, and 30 June 2026 for micro- and small enterprises, to help ensure proper and effective implementation. We recommend to take this the extra time to consider long-term solutions for future associated ESG requirements instead of a short-term solution #EUdeforestation #GreenDeal #ESG #sustainablesupplychains #EU #centralamericaexports #LATAMexports

Starting 30 December 2024, companies doing business in the EU will need to comply with the requirements of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The new regulation will require large companies trading in seven key commodities (and products derived from those commodities) to prove that these goods/products do not originate from recently deforested areas or contribute to forest degradation. Ismael Aznar Cano, Sustainability Legal Partner PwC España, sets out the EUDR’s core requirements and what companies should be doing to ensure they’re ready to comply: https://pwc.to/4dODNiw #EUDR #Regulation #Sustainability

By the end of the year, most products in the EU made from forested commodities (cattle, coffee, cocoa, oil palm, rubber, soya, and timber) must have a due diligence statement indicating that the product did not contribute to deforestation or forest degradation and was made in compliance with the relevant legislation of the country of production. The EU's Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) will require economic operators to carry out a rigorous analysis of their supply chain to ensure compliance.
