Taylor Swift left Liverpool in raptures this summer as her world tour stopped in the city for three nights. Now are Coldplay - arguably the world's biggest band - about to do the same in Hull? The Glastonbury favourites, with over 100 million albums sold worldwide, have chosen Hull's Sewell Group Craven Park Stadium as the only venue outside London to see gigs on Coldplay's 2025 European tour. There's more here in the Hull Daily Mail: https://lnkd.in/ehanuTpJ Paul Lakin, chief executive at rugby league club Hull KR, who play at Craven Park, said: “We are truly delighted to bring the world’s biggest band to east Hull. Sewell Group Craven Park will be rocking for two consecutive nights for the biggest show the city has ever seen. We can’t wait to proudly represent the whole region and North of England." Mike Ross, leader of Hull City Council, said: “I have no doubt that residents right across the city will be extremely excited by this huge news. While I am sure everyone who attends will enjoy themselves, we also hope the city benefits economically and more while Coldplay joins us in Hull.” Helpfully for Hull a new report, produced by Turley Economics, has revealed that having world-famous stars play in front of hundreds of thousands of people at Anfield in Liverpool has delivered £31.3m to the local economy and created thousands of jobs for local people. It appears my comment was deleted twice from the below post - so thought I'd share it here. Venue owners should listen as well as amplify; that's how we improve, take stock and evolve. The comment: The gig was great - no doubt. Foo's rocked! 🤘🎆 But there was a severe lack of operational efficiency at the gig venue. Examples: The bars were the worst I've experienced - no hyperbole. This is 2024, but multiple 40+ people queues across the stadium, concourses and on the pitch/standing area with dithering staff and stock issues. Then, the grim sight of single-use plastic cups covering the stadium floor (and I'm sure, the stadia seats) - fans kicking through rivers of clear plastic cups to get to exit points. Again, this is 2024 and there are many other sustainable options. Then the misery and danger of trying to get back to Stratford station from the stadium. If you missed the end of the gig, you might have stood a chance. If you stayed to the end like we did, it was a 2-hour kettling-session with little security and no policing. Appalling and at many times dangerous. I appreciate the hubris Graham Gilmore, but your team would benefit from an overhaul in operational efficiency. In almost 25 years of producing global events this was one of the worst operations I've witnessed as a fan. I'd be v happy to talk about solutions or strategic tactics over a cuppa if you do plan for London Stadium to hit London 2012 heights again, and be heralded for operational excellence as a viable international venue on the global circuit. Because again, Foo Fighters will have loved the atmosphere and the ticket sales - but every fan will feel let down by the venue. Sean Egan Candice Egan Amy Moqbel
The Worlds Stage rocked again . London Stadium we showed the world why we are simply the best at what we do. Foo Fighters have to be the best rock band in the world . Incredible 2 nights with 3 hour set both nights … Stratford rocked last week .

Unveiling the secrets of Starlizard: Tony Bloom’s data powerhouse in football integrity Starlizard, often described as the Willy Wonka’s factory for sports data, has been instrumental in the success of Brighton & Hove Albion and Belgium’s Union Saint Gilloise. In a rare interview, Affy Sheikh, Head of Starlizard Integrity Services, reveals how the company uses its vast data resources to combat match-fixing and support law enforcement efforts. Despite its enigmatic nature, Starlizard’s commitment to clean data is central to both its business model and its contribution to football integrity. 1: How does Starlizard contribute to combating match-fixing in football? Starlizard uses its extensive data analysis capabilities to identify suspicious betting patterns and player performances, which it then shares with sports governing bodies and law enforcement agencies. Although the company itself lacks the authority to directly investigate players, it provides crucial intelligence that helps these bodies pursue and prosecute match-fixing cases. 2: What role does education play in preventing match-fixing according to Affy Sheikh? Sheikh emphasizes the importance of educating players about the methods used by match-fixers. Clubs have a duty to protect their players by informing them about potential approaches and techniques used by fixers, such as building relationships under false pretenses. 3: How significant is match-fixing in the global football landscape? According to Starlizard’s 2023 integrity report, match-fixing is relatively rare, with only one in 400 matches showing indicators of possible manipulation globally. However, the risk is higher in regions like Asia and in lower domestic leagues. #Integrity #SportsBusiness #Football #SportsBiz #Finance #People #Data #Tech #Intelligence
