🇪🇸 ➡️ Enagas quadruple its supply of LNG for bunkering Enagás has solidified its standing as a premier European operator in the decarbonization of maritime transport via the provision of LNG for bunkering. The quantity of LNG supplied as fuel by Enagás-managed facilities in 2023 reached 1,359 GWh, marking a more than four fold increase compared to 2021 (300GWh). The increased utilization of LNG has enabled the prevention of over 74,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions, as well as virtually eliminating emissions of sulfur and nitrogen oxides (SOx and NOx), thereby enhancing air quality within port surroundings. #LNG #Enagas #LNGbunkering

Molgas Energy Holding, a prominent player in Europe’s LNG bunkering sector, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting its first LNG bunkering operation in Sicily, Italy. Teaming up with Caronte & Tourist S.p.A., Molgas coordinated a groundbreaking truck-to-ship bunkering operation on April 11th at the Port of Trapani. In collaboration with Caronte & Tourist S.p.A., the bunkering operation involved the seamless transfer of LNG from a truck to the vessel NEREA, facilitated by Molgas. Congratulations to SEA-LNG member TotalEnergies on chartering an LNG Bunker Vessel (LNGBV) from Ibaizabal Group. Total Energies’ Louise Tricoire commented that the company is committed to playing its part in “responding to the sector’s increasing demand for this fuel (LNG) which can help global shipping meet its decarbonisation ambitions,” supporting the continued growth of the existing LNG bunkering infrastructure. Ship-to-ship bunkering, driven by the global rollout of LNGBVs, has seen significant growth in recent years. Recently, SEA-LNG members have acted as industry first-movers to expand LNGBVs globally in key bunkering hubs such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, the US East Coast and Gulf of Mexico, NW Europe and the Mediterranean. Today, LNG Bunkering is now available in 185 ports, with an additional 50 being added next year. The bunkering vessel fleet has increased from a single vessel in 2010 to 60 in operation today, with a further 13 on order and significant interest in the maritime community to continue to invest in these important assets. Gate terminal B.V., a pivotal player in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector, has launched a non-binding call for expression of interest to gauge market demand for small-scale ship loading services at its upcoming jetty, Jetty 4. This strategic move aims to assess interest in the provision of loading services for LNG, Bio-LNG, and synthetic LNG. Currently, Gate Terminal operates small-scale ship loading services primarily for the marine bunkering market at Jetty 3. TotalEnergies Marine Fuels achieved a significant operational feat as their chartered LNG bunker vessel, the Gas Vitality, conducted the first bunkering operation at anchorage for the company. The operation took place at Marseille Fos, Southern France, where the Gas Vitality successfully provided LNG bunkers to the company’s chartered Product tanker, the Hafnia Languedoc. This milestone represents a leap forward in operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness for both TotalEnergies Marine Fuels and its clients. TotalEnergies has signed a charter contract with Spanish shipowner, Ibaizabal, for a new LNG bunker vessel of 18 600 m3 capacity. This new vessel will expand the company’s global presence in bunkering hubs. In particular, this additional vessel might be deployed in Oman, where the company is developing the Marsa LNG project with the objective to provide LNG to the shipping sector in the Gulf.
