Gate terminal B.V., a pivotal player in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector, has launched a non-binding call for expression of interest to gauge market demand for small-scale ship loading services at its upcoming jetty, Jetty 4. This strategic move aims to assess interest in the provision of loading services for LNG, Bio-LNG, and synthetic LNG. Currently, Gate Terminal operates small-scale ship loading services primarily for the marine bunkering market at Jetty 3. Given the high occupancy rate at Jetty 3 and the optimistic forecast for the LNG bunkering market in Northwest Europe, the addition of Jetty 4 is deemed necessary to accommodate the sector’s growth. #bunkering #energy #shipping #marine #maritime #petroleum #shipowners #decarbonization #technology #digitalization #energytransition #sustainable #oilandgas #cleanenergy #carboncapture #ports #greenenergy #greenshipping #netcarbonzero #society #sustainability #bunkermarket #europe #usa #uk #canada #uae #netherlands #denmark #norway #sweden #singapore #rotterdam #portofrotterdam #gateterminal #lngbunkering https://lnkd.in/dSRkxhuv

🚢 ➡️ LNG Bunkering Sales Off to a Strong Start in 2024 Liquefied natural gas (LNG) remains the fuel of choice for lower-carbon shipping, despite the rise in orders for vessels equipped with dual-fuel methanol and ammonia engines, according to Rystad Energy analysis. While question marks remain around just how environmentally friendly LNG is as a shipping fuel, its price competitiveness, abundant supply and well-developed infrastructure give it an advantage over the alternatives. This is particularly evident with LNG bunkering; fueling ships with LNG. #LNG #LNGbunkering #Rystad

🇦🇺 🚢 Pilbara Clean Fuels pursues development of electrified LNG plant A key feature of the project is an electrified plant with outsourced power supplied predominantly from renewable sources. The design intent is to significantly reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions compared to conventional LNG plants. Thereby providing an ability for round-trip voyages bunkering in Port Hedland to achieve substantially lower overall greenhouse gas (GHG) lifecycle emissions than other options. The LNG refuelling concept is based on ship-to-ship bunkering of vessels while at anchor off Port Hedland. #LNG #LNGbunkering

Enagás has solidified its position as a leading European operator in the decarbonisation of maritime transport through its substantial supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering. In 2023, the volume of LNG loaded as marine fuel by Enagás operated plants reached 1,359 GWh, marking a significant increase from the 300 GWh recorded in 2021. This surge in LNG usage has enabled the avoidance of over 74,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions and the near-elimination of sulphur and nitrogen oxides (SOx and NOx), significantly improving air quality in port environments. Enagás has achieved this milestone by implementing comprehensive solutions, including adapting its terminals and constructing supply barges via its subsidiary Scale Gas. This strategic positioning has made Enagás the European operator with the highest aggregate loading capacity for LNG. #bunkering #bunkermarket #energy #shipping #maritime #shipowners #decarbonization #digitalization #energytransition #carboncapture #ports #marinefuels #greenshipping #netzero #spain #europe #barcelona #portofbarcelona #enagas #scalegas #peninsula #lng #lngbunkering #lngshipping https://lnkd.in/dg7viAu5

LNG’s role in supporting the shipping industry’s environmental, commercial and operational challenges was explored in a recent webinar hosted by Riviera Maritime Media Ltd, featuring remarks from SEA-LNG member Lloyd's Register. SEA-LNG board member and LR’s Global Gas Segment Director, Panayiotis Mitrou, noted the future potential of bio-LNG and renewable synthetic e-LNG, highlighting their growing traction within the industry and the possibility of integrating these fuels with technologies such as carbon capture. Panayiotis also mentioned the great strides the sector is taking towards tackling methane slip with new technologies and the initiatives in place; such as Methane Abatement in Maritime Innovation Initiative (MAMII) and the EU-funded GREEN RAY Project, working to eliminate fugitive methane emissions. The growing LNG infrastructure was also discussed with Avenir LNG’s bunkering commercial director, Jan S., who provided a practical perspective on developing the global LNG network. Meanwhile, James Fisher and Sons plc Tankships’ voyage operations manager, Nicola Ellwood (FCMI CMgr), discussed the operational challenges and strategic initiatives undertaken to facilitate the use of LNG; covering its integration within Tankships’ environmental strategy. It is great to see commercial weight building behind LNG as a marine fuel, and there is no doubt that LNG represents the practical and realistic pathway to net-zero shipping emissions. Hamina LNG Oy is celebrating a triumphant start to the year with a flurry of activity and newfound interest in their services, resulting in the acquisition of new customers. This week marked a historic milestone for the company as they successfully concluded the first-ever ship LNG bunkering at the Hamina LNG terminal. This achievement was made possible through a collaborative effort with Rohe Solutions Oy and Glander International Bunkering. The burgeoning interest in Hamina LNG comes at a time when the number of ships utilizing LNG/LBG (liquefied natural gas/liquefied biogas) is on the rise. Utilizing Hamina LNG’s refueling arm at their berth offers significant advantages, ensuring ships receive a full tank of colder LNG directly from storage. In response to the escalating demand, Hamina LNG has announced the availability of spot capacity during the months of April to June. While the current storage booking level remains high, there is still space available from April onwards. Interested parties are urged to act swiftly as availability may change rapidly. #bunkering #energy #shipping #marine #maritime #petroleum #shipowners #decarbonization #technology #digitalization #energytransition #sustainable #oilandgas #cleanenergy #carboncapture #ports #greenenergy #greenshipping #netcarbonzero #society #sustainability #bunkermarket #europe #usa #uk #canada #uae #netherlands #denmark #norway #sweden #singapore #dubai #finland #haminalng #haminalngterminal #haminaterminal #rohesolutions #glander #glanderinternationalbunkering #glanderbunkering #lngbunkering #lngindustry #lngshipping https://lnkd.in/dbwgSyBW

🇺🇸 🛠 Commonwealth LNG Signs Carbon Capture and Storage MOU With OnStream CO2 Under the agreement, OnStream CO2 will design, construct, own, and operate carbon dioxide (CO2) capture equipment near the Commonwealth LNG site. The captured CO2 will be permanently sequestered at the Cameron Parish CO2 Hub. Commonwealth will dedicate CO2 emitted from the LNG facility for a 20-year term. The Carbonvert-Castex joint venture recently announced an operating agreement with the State of Louisiana to develop a 24,000-acre tract of land offshore Cameron Parish, where it will permanently store CO2 in a hub with capacity for more than 250 million metric tons. #LNG #USLNG #CommonwealthLNG #CCS #OnStreamCO2
