Strong Spillover from Mega Infrastructure Projects in Q2 The outlook for Malaysia's construction sector in Q2 2024 is highly positive, driven by the rollout of numerous mega infrastructure projects. Here are the key takeaways: • Government spending boost: Budget 2024 allocated RM90 billion for development expenditure, with projects like the Penang LRT, MRT3, and flood mitigation initiatives expected to generate significant contract flows. • Positive industry sentiment: Research firms and construction players are bullish on the sector's growth potential, citing rising construction index and healthy contract wins by leading companies like Gamuda and IJM Corp. • Focus areas: Public transportation projects like the LRT expansions and MRT3 are high priorities. Additionally, flood mitigation and renewable energy initiatives are gaining traction. • Challenges remain: Rising material costs and the need for fairer contract structures are concerns highlighted by MBAM. Companies need to adapt to changing conditions and embrace digitalization. Overall, the construction sector in Malaysia is poised for a strong Q2 2024 with significant spillover effects from government infrastructure spending. This positive momentum is expected to translate into improved company earnings and continued growth throughout the year.

Rm 10bil for Penang LRT in 2024 is not really realistic anymore. The budget derived 10years+ ago, considering 3% inflation annually, the total project might cost around 15-20bil. Unless they come up with new proposal (less stations/no. of trains/ length/ land acquisition). Just my 2 cents.

If Botswana wants to build their rain across our country and still use our port for their shipment business. They must first apologize for the lives of Namibian they shit down at impalila island just because they were fishing in shared water resources. . And strictly warn the Botswana defence force to stop gunning down Namibian at that island as they are shooting animals.. we are not stupid to be taken for granted... That matter must be resolved amicably first.
