More and more Canadian companies are entering the era of Industry 4.0. Digital twins are already being used in numerous applications. “Sales of industrial robots are going through the roof in Canada” is the headline of Heiko Steinacher’s report. 5G networks are the game changer: In 2023, the International Federation of Robotics registered an increase of 43% industrial robots installed in Canada compared to the previous year – and all-time high. The automotive industry accounted for more than half of robot installations. Manufacturers see huge benefits through automation of production processes. The diversity of data and the integrity of the database feeding into AI as well as the algorithm selection along with an evaluation process will differentiate between AI applications. I expect in the future companies will compete on the above to differentiate on their propriotory AI solution
#AI is a talking point in every industry and our MD Vincent St Claire discusses how it will deliver significant efficiency gains in the world of SMR, but highlights the need for caution when embracing it in the short term. Read the July BVRLA Leasing Outlook report here: https://lnkd.in/eBXbGct4

Advanced manufacturing extends well beyond what most of us think of when we hear the term, "advanced manufacturing." Technology forces most industries to advance or get left behind. Manufacturing companies are leveraging automation, computation, software, sensing, artificial intelligence, and networking to create efficient systems that deliver greater value to their customers.

The Equipment Leasing and Finance Association’s annual Top 10 Equipment Acquisition Trends forecast an economic soft landing, increased capital spending, and the potential for a less restrictive borrowing environment. All very welcome news, but two things that stuck out for me were the expected growth in equipment-as-a-service (EaaS) and AI, robotics, and automation, further supporting the idea that every company is now, at least in part, a tech company. #EquipmentFinance https://lnkd.in/ggjHRu-V

I came across (maybe you did too) this beautiful map with a catchy title (source Roland Berger). As an expert in complex electronic manufacturing strategies, I cringe at the over-simplification this implies. If only it were that simple! Most people will stop at the map and not read the full report and that is a pity since the report clearly states its methodology based on three parameters, labor costs (of course), political stability / industry friendliness of the country, and maturity of the electronics ecosystem. Three parameters are better than one, but there is more to it. There is no "one-size-fits-all". You need to find the right EMS for your product, your market, your budget, your volume, your timeline, etc. A lot of the countries mentioned on the map could be characterized as "emerging" (although a lot of them are quite far on that journey). These countries have achieved a lot and their wages have not caught up yet. So that makes them "attractive" on the labor rate side which the report seems to be giving a lot of weight to. But again, labor rate is only one part of the equation, and often not a large part. Great communication starter though! #hardware #manufacturing #Enging #industrialization #npi #robotics #robots #Scaleup #dragoninnovation #kaifa #nicolasavril #startup #EMS #electronics
