🎯 Getting out of gas in #Vienna: the #LOCALISED partner ÖGUT - Österreichische Gesellschaft für Umwelt und Technik is participating in these efforts by collaborating with the City of Vienna on the “Raus aus Gas”: https://lnkd.in/d2ZCzWCx 👥 ÖGUT’s experts have been working on projects to promote #FossilFree and #EnvironmentallyFriendly #Heating in the city of Vienna for years. Thanks to the agreement with HAUSKUNFT, ÖGUT is now available to homeowners for free, tailor-made and independent consultations. 🧐 The focus on local efforts and best practices to “get out of gas” is especially relevant for the #LOCALISEDProject, as one of the project activities currently underway is to establish the #LocalAdaptation of the renovation wave’s policies and other #MitigationInitiatives and define mid to long term scenarios at local level. . #RenovationWave #RausAusGas #JustTransition #EUGreenDeal #EUfunded #HorizonEU #ClimateAction #ClimateChange

Estonia’s ambitious dive into seawater heat Researchers at Tallinn University of Technology are exploring the Baltic Sea as a source of thermal energy for urban heating. Unlike geothermal energy, which harnesses heat from beneath the Earth’s surface, seawater heat pumps extract energy by utilizing the temperature differences in water. Estonia’s exploration of seawater heat taps into a wider international push to harness marine energy for sustainable urban living. Around the world, coastal cities are looking to the sea to meet their energy demands. In Stockholm, for example, seawater heat pumps have been used to supplement district heating systems since the 1980s, providing a model for Northern Europe #water #seawater #estonia

France's Nature Conservancy Council has made it clear: 'The installation of solar parking canopies must be an "absolute priority" if France is to meet its national energy targets' (Conseil National de la Protection de la Nature: N° 2024-16). 🅿 This is positive news for CrowdHouse Energy and highlights how our patented canopy system, Helios Volt®, can play a key role in ensuring these targets are met. ✅ "How?", I hear you ask. 🤷♂️ Helios Volt® boasts Pure Bifacial Qualities which means our canopy captures direct sunlight from above as well as dispersed and reflected sunlight from below, without hindrance from the structure which typically inhibits the cells' efficiency. 💡 Helios Volt® can therefore produce up to 35 % more energy per square metre than typical canopies. This increased efficiency is crucial for maximising energy generation, especially in urban areas where space is limited. 📈 Helios Volt® offers an innovative solution which allows us to bridge the gap between current energy use and future needs without compromising nature.🌱 #Sustainability #HeliosVolt #SolarEnergy #RenewableEnergy #ClimateAction #GreenInfrastructure #EcoInnovation #OmbrièrePhotovoltaïque #Durabilité Catherine Cestari Julien Danne Maxime Debeauvais

Did you know 2008 was the year the Accessible Sky Agreement was signed in Hungary? Do you know what it is? 🤝 At our November workshop in 2023, we learned more from the Hungarian bird expert Marton Horvath about the agreement & the sensitivity maps (one from 2008 & 2020 respectively) that were created as a result 🇭🇺 🦅 Some quick info on the Accessible Sky Agreement: In 2008, this agreement was the beginning of the partnership between governmental agencies, NGO (MME BirdLife), & grid operators to protect birds along power lines. They worked together to find the baseline & create a sensitivity map that outlined birds' risk of electrocution from mid-voltage pylons 🗺 Fast forward to 2022 ⏭ A second study was conducted to see how far they have come in 10 years and to update the map including more recent data. Thus demonstrating that birds are still at risk for electrocution in Hungary. Want to learn more? An exciting day for our #sustainability journey in Poland: Today, Danfoss signed an agreement with the Municipality of Warsaw, the Royal Embassy of Denmark in Poland, Metro Warszawskie Sp. z o.o., and Ramboll Group to make the Polish capital more sustainable. First important milestone on the agenda: the recovery and reuse of #wasteheat from the Warsaw Metro system to heat private homes and buildings. As part of his official visit to Poland, his Majesty King Frederik X was present at the signing ceremony at the Naradowy Metro Station in central Warsaw. Warsaw's #districtheating system consists of more than 1,800 kilometers of pipes and relies to a large extent on fossil fuel based heat generation. Recovering #wasteheat is an essential part of the solution to reduce this reliance and move to alternative heat sources. Just from Warsaw's metro stations, every year, a combined 62 GWh of #heat are wasted, equivalent to the annual heating demand of more than 14,000 people. Read more about the Warsaw Metro opportunity here: https://lnkd.in/enEMZpsD

This is my 6th video on my Youtube Channel. In this video I look at the city of the future, what does it have to offer to satisfy its citizens? What are the fundamental requirements for the cities of the future? In this video I discussed these questions and fundamentally addressed the question of what are the basic needs that a city has to satisfy and how this can be achieved in the future with renewable energies. This video was intended to provide an overview of the issues and requirements that, in my opinion, are most important for the development of the city of the future. #futurecities #cityofthefuture #city #urbanplanning #urbandevelopment #gardencity #urbanfarming #verticalfarming #renewableenergies #futureofliving #future #landscapearchitecture #landscaping #StädtederZukunft #Zukunft #Städtebau #Stadtentwicklung #Gartenstadt

The less energy we waste, the less we need to produce. Buildings play a major role in our energy landscape, accounting for 40% of energy consumption in the EU. This is why we need to renovate all residential buildings in the EU to energy-efficient standards. It’s a win for both savings and the planet! 🏡🌍 #InsideVELUX #EnergyEfficiency #BrighterFuture
Consider this: We could save 44% of the energy used for indoor space
