Did you know that Clearance Divers are the only Bomb Disposal specialists in the Canadian Armed Forces who perform Explosive Ordnance Disposal work in both land and sea environments?    Lt(N) Matt Hammond, a Clearance Diving Officer of the Royal Canadian Navy | Marine royale canadienne, shows us how his team helps keep Canadians safe.    Royal Canadian Navy Clearance Divers are highly trained underwater specialists who are responsible for delivering Mine-Countermeasures Diving, Maritime Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and Underwater Engineering support.

Selection for the Clearance Diving Officer sub-occupation is restricted to Naval Warfare Officers. Learn more: https://www.canada.ca/en/navy/corporate/fleet-units/specialized-units/clearance-divers.html

Hmm, retired Combat engineer here. I recall a few combat divers/engineers with EOD qualifications doing similiar work. But hey, that was the 1980's, so things have probably changed.

Two of my older brothers were Clearance Divers. There are many more tasks that they have to do besides demolitions....A very demanding and dangerous job for sure. Not for the faint of heart!
