Meet the staff featured in Netflix's "Inside the Mind of a Dog"! 🐕🦺 Alex Hutchinson, featured prominently in the documentary, is a seasoned service dog instructor who's dedicated more than 20 years to Canine Companions - training over 100 #servicedogs to date. Born in Germany, the youngest of four daughters of a U.S. Army father and a German mother who came to America when Hutchinson was a toddler, Alex grew up with a “best friend” dog. While earning a communications degree at Robert Morris University outside Pittsburgh, she started volunteering at dog shelters. Alex initially became a flight attendant before her now true calling: “I always knew I wanted to end up helping people” — which she has done as a nonmedical volunteer with the nonprofit Surgicorps International, similar to Doctors Without Borders. “And if I could merge people and dogs together? Wow.” 🐾 Read more about her and her story: https://bit.ly/3XpOFxa #InsidetheMindofaDog #documentary #dog #puppy #science #servicedog #roblowe
I met Alex at a Canine Companion awareness event with Service Dog Heidi about 10 years ago. I was initially just planning to write a check to the organization, however I was so enamored by Alex’s presentation, my wife and I signed up to be puppy raisers. We are now raising Puppy #6. We love the organization and the Canine Companions family. A job well done, Alex!!
I loved her insight and passion all throughout the documentary! You can see her love for each and every pupper that walks through those doors. It was fulfilling to see each dog find their unique purpose through her wisdom and training.
Alex was so amazing with the dogs. And, that is Bonus!😍 Such an attentive, kind and calm dog.
Enjoyed the show and have recommended it to many dog lovers. Thanks!
Thank you Alex for all you do in training Service dogs!
