According to research by Foodbank Australia, 1 in 5 children in Australia experience food insecurity. This means many kids are starting their school day on an empty stomach. "It's not good enough that any child goes without food, let alone many children. When I joined the Living Hope Missions team on a school food delivery run, I saw first-hand the number of children going to school every day, hungry. The reality is that they can't change their circumstances alone and schools don't have enough resources to meet demand. It opened my eyes to what was happening on our doorstep, and I knew we needed to get involved." - Julio Labraga, co-founder and Director, Capspace. Every child should have access to healthy food. That’s why we founded the Most Important Meal project with Living Hope Missions. Through generous donations from our growing partner and volunteer network, we are able to make regular deliveries of food and other essential items to schools in Sydney. But demand is greater than ever and we would love your help. There are various ways you can get involved to support us in our mission to help end food insecurity for kids. Find out more about our Most Important Meal project and see how you, or your organisation, can get involved: https://hubs.la/Q02gR86_0 #mostimportantmeal #helpingaustralianssucceed

Food insecurity isn't just a challenge faced by low-income neighborhoods. It's likely present in your own backyard. With corporate cost-cutting and reorganizations, many people are grappling with unemployment and putting food on the table. You never know what's happening behind closed doors. Writing this post because I found out my daughter has a classmate whose family has been missing meals. I do not know the family but figuring out how to invite them over for a meal or offer support. Here are three actionable steps we can all take to make a difference: 1️⃣ Volunteer at local food banks or community kitchens: Offer your time and support to organizations dedicated to providing meals for those in need. Your assistance can make a tangible impact in alleviating hunger within your community. 2️⃣ Donate non-perishable food items: Take stock of your pantry and consider donating surplus food items to local shelters or food banks. Even small contributions can collectively make a significant difference in combating food insecurity. 3️⃣ Advocate for policy change: Use your voice to advocate for policies that address the root causes of food insecurity, such as unemployment benefits, affordable housing, and access to nutritious food options. By raising awareness and supporting systemic change, we can work towards a more equitable society where everyone has access to an ample food supply. Coincidently, this Wednesday's Inspired Money livestream is talking about "The Power of Giving: Making an Impact through Philanthropy." There are benefits to both giving and receiving. Together, let's join hands to tackle food insecurity and ensure that no one in our communities goes hungry. My family enjoyined volunteering at the Food Bank last week during winter break. How are you giving back? #FoodInsecurity #CommunitySupport #MakeADifference #FinancialAdvisor

At the No Hunger Food Bank, our mission is simple yet powerful - to end hunger in our community. We believe that no one should have to go without access to nutritious food. That’s why we operate the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TFAP). TFAP takes a two-pronged approach to fighting hunger. First, it rescues surplus food that would otherwise go to waste - from farms, manufacturers, retailers, and more. This food is then quickly distributed to needy families, ensuring it doesn’t end up in landfills. Second, TFAP provides temporary food assistance to those facing hard times, with a special focus on vulnerable communities. Whether it’s displaced families, children in need, or members of the disabled community, we’re here to ensure no one has to choose between feeding their loved ones and paying the bills. But we can’t do it alone. We rely on the generosity of supporters like you to keep our shelves stocked and our vans on the road. Your donation, no matter the size or amount, can make a real difference in the fight against hunger and food waste. Join us in building a future where no one goes to bed hungry. Fasting to raise awareness for children’s hunger | Day 4: Cruising through day 2 of the 48-hour fast, feeling good. Waking up hungry is not my favorite thing ever, but American families are doing it every day. Fasting helps you empathize with the challenge of food insecurity in a deeper way. Saturday I’ll be volunteering at Feeding Northeast Florida - excited for that and will keep you posted! Thanks for the support so far! — Ways you can get involved: 1. Donate or volunteer at a local food bank like Feeding America 2. Health permitting, fast along with me. We’re doing a 1-day fast, a 2-day fast, and a 3-day fast in the first ten days of April. Make sure you take it slow and do your research before you change your eating habits like this. Speaking from experience, the difference between a 1-day fast and a 3-day fast is enormous. 3. Spread the word! Raise awareness about children’s hunger and food insecurity in the United States. Because no child deserves to go hungry. #fasting #hunger #feedingflorida #feedingamerica

**Hunger doesn't care about your zip code.** With the rising cost of living and inflation affecting everyone, food insecurity has become a critical issue, particularly for the 1.9 million adults and children in Massachusetts who represent 1 in 3 households. The increasing prices of essential goods have made it significantly harder for families to afford nutritious food, pushing many to seek help from food agencies and community resources. As one of the four food banks in Massachusetts, Merrimack Valley Food Bank, Inc. partners with over 100 food agencies across 33 communities. Together, we are working tirelessly to provide emergency food assistance to those in need. However, the demand for healthy food continues to stretch our resources. To ensure that everyone has access to the nutritious food they need to thrive, we need your help. 💪 Here’s what you can do: *Donate to Merrimack Valley Food Bank and help feed 80,000 each month *Host a food drive with family, friends, or your company. *Volunteer your time. *Raise Awareness about the growing need and encourage others to get involved. No amount is too small to address this urgent issue and make a tangible difference in our communities. Fasting to raise awareness for children’s hunger | Day 2: Finished yesterday’s 24-hour fast feeling good. One day of not eating is pretty low-impact when you’re preparing for it and you keep yourself busy. …. But I can’t imagine what it’s like to not eat because you can’t afford it. There’s a huge difference between skipping meals because you want to, and skipping meals because you have to. I’ve never truly known what that’s like - it has got to be extremely difficult. But families deal with that reality every day in the US. So we’re raising awareness was for everyone facing hunger. Most of all the kids. 2 April: we’re eating normally today and then tomorrow kicks off the 2-day/48 hour fast. Spread the word 📣 — Ways you can get involved: 1. Donate or volunteer at a local food bank like Feeding America 2. Health-permitting, fast along with me. We’re doing a 1-day fast, a 2-day fast, and a 3-day fast in the first ten days of April. 3. Spread the word! Raise awareness about children’s hunger and food insecurity in the United States. Because no child deserves to go hungry. #fasting #hunger #feedingflorida

Despite the high cost of Food stuffs currently in the market, there are still some high level of Food Loss and Waste happening right from the Farms, down to Retailers, Distributors, Manufacturers and as well as in our Individual's Home. According to FAO around One-third of all food produced is either lost or wasted each year. That's amounting around about 2.5 billion tons a year. The global food system emits around one-third of total annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions, which is also a challenge to the environment. The Food loss and waste Numbers are striking, considering the number of people that are hungry in the world. 🏡💟 However, Foodbanks all over the world are working round the clocks in contributing towards the reduction of food loss and Waste, Zero Hunger and as well sustainable environment, Just like No Hunger Food Bank . And one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals is to Halve Global Food Waste and reduce food Losses in Production and Supply by 2030. In achieving this, there's need for collaborations, taking action and suffice to say matching words with actions by all stakeholders including you and I. 📋 Also, there's need for government over here in Nigeria to come up with policies that would encourage reduction of food waste. For Example, in 2016 France banned shops from throwing away unsold food, instead requiring them to donate to charities and Foodbank. This can be tweaked in a such a way that it will also benefits the shop owners in terms of taxes. 🗣️ Please Donate that food to a Food Bank close to you, don't wait to throw them into the trashcan, it can be a lifesaver to someone in the various communities Foodbanks' provides assistance to. #Advocacy #Volunteer #Policy #Foodbanking #Sdgs #Sustainable #environment #Zerohunger #Zerowaste #Foodsystem #Support The Global FoodBanking Network
