Research reveals an alarming increase in heart attack risks among younger women, shifting away from older age groups traditionally associated with these risks. This rise is linked to lifestyle factors such as increased blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and smoking rates among younger demographics. Recognizing not just the typical chest pain but also subtler signs like fatigue, nausea, and back or jaw pain is crucial. Adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle with regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and effective stress management can significantly reduce these risks. #HeartHealthAwareness

OUR FOOD IS KILLING US: More than a billion people are obese worldwide. It is one of life‘s great ironys that food, the very thing that fuels our lives can also damage our well-being. We know obesity can increase the risk of developing many serious health conditions, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. The problem of obesity is getting worse and is now becoming a global disease. With more than a billion people are living with obesity around the world, global estimates published in The Lancet show. It is worth a read. See here: https://lnkd.in/eqxYWk7Y This includes about 880 million adults and 159 million children, according to 2022 data. Out of some 190 countries, the UK ranks 55th highest for men and 87th for women. World Health Organization (WHO) director general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said: "This new study highlights the importance of preventing and managing obesity from early life to adulthood, through diet, physical activity, and adequate care." Throughout my career of some 40 years, I’ve seen this ticking timebomb, just get louder and louder. There’s a lot of great science about what is causing it and some of the solutions - but actually it is not having an impact. Your thoughts on some of the solutions? Personally, I lost 10 stone. Largely because I wanted to and then I just cut down on my calories. My diet is high in fibre and low in HFSS. in that sense, it is not difficult to eat healthily. I am also saving a hell of a lot of money. #Food #Obesity #FoodScience #FoodTechnology #Nutrition #Health #PublicHealth #FoodIndustry #FoodService #Hospitality #retail

Pain is the enemy. Safe Efficient Movement the solution. I still work at my grueling profession at 80. Age is a number in calendar years. Biological Age is up to you. Age Backwards.
Age Backwards WEDNESDAY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS “Globally, there has been a shift in food consumption patterns towards more energy-dense foods at the same time as significant reduction in physical activity. Overweight and obese people are at significantly higher risk for non-communicable diseases” Excerpt: World Bank Report It’s no secret. The whole world is getting bigger; not just it’s population. While bio-technology advances, the Earth’s inhabitants are unhealthier. World Health Organization (WHO), 2.5 billion adults (18 years and older) were overweight in 2022, which is 43% of the adult population. Of those, 890 million were obese, which is 16% of the adult population. Additionally, 37 million children under the age of 5 were overweight in 2022 Yet, the fat loss gurus are still peddling their fake fixes to the multitudes. If this weren’t bad enough, people are still embarking on yet another “diet;” spending more hard earned money on pills, diet centered foods; while real food is treated as the “enemy.” “Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is insanity.” Einstein #livepainfree #livedrugfree #agebackwards #obesity #weightloss #foodasmedicine #fitforlife #ketogeniclifestyle #jointhealth #trendtyranny #fatadapted #hungerfree #remotetraining

Body Positivity is All Fine. But is Being Obese Really OK? Plus sized fashion brands and clothing companies have mushroomed. Remember your family car from the 90's? Well you would find it terribly cramped for space now. Cars have gotten bigger. Soda cans and Servings have gotten bigger. Clothing standard sizes have gotten bigger. People have gotten bigger ! Global Trends (World Health Organization): 1900: Obesity was relatively uncommon. 1975: Approximately 10% of the global adult population was overweight. 1990: Goes up to 25%. 2016: This figure had risen to 39%. 2022: A whopping 43% of adults were overweight, and 16% were living with obesity. India Trends (National Family Health Survey): NFHS-4 (2015-2016): Men (Overweight + Obese) 38.4% . Women (Overweight + Obese) 36.2% NFHS-5 (2019-2021) [Data not publicly available yet] 2024: God knows! Obesity along with Central fat, or a bulging waistline, is particularly concerning as it's associated with HUGE health risks: > Cardiovascular disease: Increased risk of heart attacks, strokes, and high blood pressure. > Diabetes: Type 2 diabetes is strongly linked to obesity. India is now the diabetic capital of the world. > Certain cancers: Increased risk of several cancers, including breast, colon, and endometrial cancer. > Joint problems: Obesity puts extra strain on joints, leading to severe Osteoarthritis. > Mental health issues: Depression and anxiety can often accompany obesity. > Sleeping disorders: such as Obstructive sleep apnea. Recent years have seen a lot of talk on body positivity and acceptance, often leading to the normalization of obesity. It's important to promote self-love and acceptance, BUT also acknowledge the serious health risks associated with obesity and central fat. Cut the Flab! 🔍 **Understanding Obesity vs. Overweight: A Critical Health Distinction** In today's health landscape, the terms “obesity” and “overweight” are often used interchangeably, yet they possess distinct meanings that carry significant health implications. 🏥 ### What’s the Difference? - **Obesity** is defined as having a BMI of **30 or higher**, indicating an excessive amount of body fat. - **Overweight** is categorized by a BMI **between 25 and 29.9**—a step below obesity but still alarming.
