The math isn’t mathing 🤯 These are rough numbers but the picture is clear, we are in trouble. Not to say that things won’t get built, it’s just going to cost a whole lot more money and take a lot longer as availability of skilled labour continues to diminish. This also doesn’t take into account the facts that: - not all apprentices complete their program and - people change industries before they retire Talk about job security! And opportunity for those that want to be part of the solution. What are your thoughts? 👇 #construction #constructionindustry #constructionworker #constructionsite #constructionmanagement #contractor #subcontractor

Seems the construction skills shortage in north America mirrors the situation in the UK. As I wrote recently - 1 million additional construction personnel needed over the next 10 years. Exactly the same shortage is also being predicted in mainland Europe... #ConstructionUK #ConstructionSkillsShortage

🚧 🚜 👷♂️Helping Young People Start Their Career in Construction Where possible, CORE works with other industry leaders and government departments to help more young people of all backgrounds access high-quality training and careers in construction and develop their skills and prospects. Recently, through links with GMI Construction Group PLC and the Care Leaver Covenant - a national initiative which supports care leavers aged 16-25 to live independently, creating education, employment and training opportunities - CORE facilitated a week's work experience for a young man named Tom. 💡 After finishing high school, Tom didn't have a defined career plan, but he knew he wanted to pursue something to do with machines and engines and had expressed an interest in one of the trades. He successfully completed work experience with CORE and has since been offered a full-time position, where he will be given the opportunity to learn new skills, working towards the next steps in his career journey. Andy Preston, Director at CORE explained: "The Care Leaver Covenant is a super initiative that really does help an often-overlooked group of people within our society. "Finding new pools of talent is always high on our agenda and Tom has really stepped up and made an impression! He has a 'can-do' attitude to work and we are proud to welcome him onboard as part of the CORE team and look forward to seeing him reach his potential!" Says Tom: “I thought working with a business like CORE might be intimidating as I don't have any previous experience, but if you are interested in learning, people will show you how to do things right, and help and support you. The team at CORE have really welcomed me and I'm excited to discover the different roles in the construction industry.” Whether you are a school leaver, student or graduate CORE can give you the opportunity to develop an exciting career and we are always looking for bright, talented individuals to join our business from a wide range of backgrounds, to bring fresh thinking to our business. Picture shows: Claire Preston (left) with Tom, and his mentor at CORE Jonny Harrison. #careersinconstruction #civilengineering #schoolleavers #workexperience #industrytraining #skills #prospects
