NAW 2023 is coming to a close, but on the last day, we raise awareness for resources, opportunities, and programs built to support employment for Veterans, Military, and transitioning service members in Registered Apprenticeship. Employers have seen higher retention rates from veterans and report that their veteran employees demonstrate proven leadership, an ability to work well under pressure, and a strong work ethic – all valuable skills in an apprentice. The Office of Apprenticeship has created a training library called the RA Academy, where Veterans and employers can learn about opportunities and resources within Registered Apprenticeship Programs. The missing million: Will we find enough tradespeople in the workforce to build the future of Britain? https://bit.ly/3TrQzMf. In a recent article from Get In UK, they discuss that the construction industry needs 937,000 new workers to meet growing demand by 2032! Although they focus on apprenticeships, we understand how crucial these stats are and how apprentices aren't the only 'need'. We help retrain individuals from the Armed Forces Community, including the Army, RAF, the Navy, Veterans, Reservists and their families who are looking to leave the forces and start a new career path in the construction industry. Can you support our cause and provide those pathways? We are always looking to partner with corporate and academy partners, industry, and educational services to help strengthen how we can join forces between industry, education and the Armed Forces. The Emerging Technology Apprenticeship Program is proud to participate in Day 5 of National Apprenticeship Week, with the theme being ‘Public Service Apprenticeship and Veterans in Apprenticeship.’ 19% of ETA applicants are military veterans. Veterans possess transferable skills and experiences gained during their military service, making them valuable candidates for employment with businesses and public entities in critical infrastructure sectors. Apprenticeships help veterans transition to civilian employment by providing upskilling in emerging technologies in areas where their current military skills align, such as with IT, logistics, or project planning. The dedication of veterans to our country and the crucial role public service workers play in the functioning of government and private sector critical infrastructure does not go unnoticed by ETA. #NAW2023 #ApprenticeshipUSA

AIRTEC attended The Patuxent Partnership (TPP) Defense Summit this week. It was another great local opportunity to support the important mission of TPP and engage with leaders in government and partners in the defense contracting industry. We often forget in the day-to-day grind and hustle why we do what we do but this was a great reminder of the big picture and the imminent threats that could be around the corner and why we must continue to work together and work through contracting, procurement, logistics, and budget challenges to be ready to protect the freedom we all enjoy. TPP is a non-profit member organization that works with government, industry, and academia to advance education through STEM-based initiatives, advance technology through events, and advance science and technology through the exchange of ideas, information, and data. TPP is a vital component of fostering workforce development. AIRTEC has been a member since 2019 and participates in their Southern Maryland 2030 Workforce Development Program which provides paid internship and apprenticeship opportunities in the area. This collaborative effort is with the Naval Air Warfare Center Aviation Division (NAWCAD), the Southern Maryland Navy Alliance, and many educational partners including local colleges and schools, as well as industry. We look forward to having talented students from this internship program join us in Summer 2024! Located in the AeroPark Innovation District at the St. Mary's Airport, a few miles from the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, AIRTEC has been supporting the critical missions of customers for more than 30 years. We look forward to continuing to support TPP as an important organization that helps promote collaboration, learning, and networking to help grow the economy in the community and worldwide! #ThePatuxentPartnershipDefenseSummit #NavyLeadership #EconomicGrowth #AIRTEC #SouthernMaryland #AviationLeader #AirborneSolutions #CommunityBusinessConnections #GlobalMission

As we round out this journey through National Apprenticeship Week, we are reminded how intwined this “Superhighway to Good Jobs” is with our core mission. Serving those in uniform, from active duty to veterans, has been a key driving force for SOLID since our inception, and we’re proud to have provided program support for USMAP for many years. Why is USMAP the express lane to success for the military community? 1. Custom-built for Military Missions: USMAP’s standards are designed specifically for the military ethos, ensuring that every Army, Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard member finds their path. 2. Accelerated Learning Curve: The "earn as you learn" approach of USMAP ensures servicemembers gain both practical training and in-depth classroom instruction, propelling them further, faster. 3. A Smooth Transition Ahead: With 90% of apprentices securing employment after completion, USMAP guarantees a smooth ride into an average annual salary of $80K. 4. 🎖️ Joining the Army doesn't mean just becoming a combat solider! 🎖️ "Kaine was not aware of the apprenticeship career path offered by the Army when he joined in 2019 but has now completed his Level Three Business Administrator Apprenticeship, which is the equivalent to two ‘A’ Levels." Meaning there are no limitations to what you can learn in the Army, and the skills learnt are transferrable to a civilian career. See what Kaine said here: https://lnkd.in/egMDDVNG #Apprenticeships #Apprentice #SkillsForLife #Career #Army #ArmedForces #SouthEastAmbassadorNetwork #UpSkilling #CareerDevelopment #Qualifications #ApprenticeLife

What a great week at Ft Liberty! The Ft Liberty MTC team gave the opportunity for new FA57s to: 1. comprehend all of the low overhead tools that can support Division, Brigade and Battalion training support demands. 2. allow our students to learn about a large scale simulation (JLCCTC), by creating units and thread tests. 3. Compare advantages and disadvantages of both low overhead tools and large scale simulations. 4. Clearly see that the Joint Event Life Cycle (JLEC) is truly a modifiable model, and how to modify the model to meet unit training request that are <90 days from execution. Additionally, Ft Liberty FA57s hosted a luncheon so that new FA57 officers could understand that living in the FA57 world is cognitively challenging, but that the entire community will respond whenever someone has a question. Thanks to everyone at Ft. Liberty for making the 'apprenticeship week' such a huge success!Kenneth Harvey, PMPCharles JarvisMatthew GoncalvesJosh Hutchison CSM (Ret) Frank LuedtkeMatthew Mackey

Providing Work-Based Learning opportunities to high school students and connecting them to postsecondary plans that fit their career plans.
I was talking to a student today who is considering going into the Air Force. That's a great option but it had me thinking that in schools we don't talk about the exploring and negotiating. You may know you want to go into a specific career, college, military, apprenticeship, or company - but how do you know for sure that it's the best fit for you without exploring? How do you know you had the best option without negotiating? Many companies have the same job - which company culture is fitting your values and long-term goals? One college may give you a great financial aid package, but how do you know another won't unless you negotiate? The student I mentioned wants to be an aviation mechanic and serve their country. They assumes that the most likely way to get that job is with the Air Force, but all the branches of the military have that option. And colleges have both aviation mechanics and ROTC programs. By exploring their options they have found that one branch has a Guard option and connections to an aviation company that hires enlisted Guard. Or the Navy has aviation mechanic needs so are using the students Civil Air Patrol to advance in rank. Perhaps the Air Force is the best option, but without exploring they don't know what they've missed. In high school explore, try out classes, activities, and volunteer so you can find out what you want out of a career. Then focus on opportunities that will get you where you want to be. Don't settle for the first, sometimes the only, thing you look at - there's a whole world full of opportunities. #exploreoptions #askquestions #futureplanning #spartansintransition
