Air Florida Boeing 737-2TD Advanced "N53AF" waits for her gate at New York-La Guardia in the late summer of 1981. Also visible are 12 other aircraft belonging to American, Republic, TWA, Delta, United and Eastern. While LGA can certainly get very busy you may be asking yourself why this photograph makes the 150 acre airport look especially so. The answer is that this image was captured just a few days after the PATCO air traffic controllers strike began that year. None of the background aircraft are parked but all are awaiting departure clearance (with engines, of course, running the whole time) 1981, as you might imagine, was not a good year for U.S. Airlines. Delta, as usual in those days, managed an annual profit but it was very much an exception. Would you be willing to contribute to help me continue creating these free daily airline-history posts (over 1,300 since 2017, and counting)? If so please go to: https://lnkd.in/ebnx6r7U. Any size gift is much appreciated and it can be anonymous if you prefer. Please feel free to repost. Interested in legendary Pan Am? 🔍📅 Earlier this year, IndiGo closed the chapter on a $24,000 fine tied to four tail strike incidents. 🛬 The DGCA unearthed "systemic deficiencies" in IndiGo's procedures, prompting a show-cause notice. 🚨 All four mishaps centered around the airline's Airbus A321 planes, and the DGCA levied the penalty in July. 💸✈️ 🌐🔍 #iPint #Aviation #IndiGoPenalty #SafetyFirst #AviationNews #IndiGoFine #TailStrikeIncidents #DGCAWarning #SafetyFirst #AirbusA321 #AviationPenalty #ProceduralDeficiencies #ShowCauseNotice #AviationRegulations #PenaltyImposed

This ground incident happens due to lack of knowledge and under skilled personnel are deployed for towing. They don’t have basic knowledge of towing requirements and procedure. It’s a 100% Engineering failure. This incident can be catastrophic, if any aircraft take-off / land in that runway. As it was rolling and crossing in an active Runway. Mistake 1: No qualified personnel onboard. Mistake 2: No communication between cockpit and ground. Mistake 3: Chocks were removed before tow vehicle engaged. Mistake 4: Poor planning and coordination. Mistake 5: Missing in Action – Supervisor / Shift In-charge. Mistake 6: Parking Brake – does it engage or it’s a parking brake failure.
In a ground incident, 1990 built Universal Air DHC-8-100 aircraft (9H-CTG) started rolling and crossed an active Runway , in an unoccupied cockpit scenario at Malta Airport (LMML), when the chocks were removed for the towing purpose. #aircraft #aviation #safety

This is the hugest mistake that can happen for a dhc-8 rolling toward an active runway with no pilot in the cockpit. Procedures and training needs to be paramount & done properly to avoid such weird expensive hazards like this. Imagine the consequences of such an occurrence !! #Aviation Safety #Safety first

Situational awareness is the KEY
Update ! Visuals from the cockpit of the Air France B777 aircraft, during the push-back truck (Tug master) fire incident yesterday at the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The aircraft, that has been grounded, will undergo technical tests including heat damage inspections before being released for service. Previous Post : https://lnkd.in/dYcD92GE 🎥Twintair #aircraft

One of the biggest differences between FAA applications and airline applications is the definition of PIC. The CFR allows rated pilots to log PIC as the "sole manipulator of the controls". But when filling out airline applications, majors only consider PIC to be time as the "aircraft commander of record". With our updated our FAA 8710-1 Summary page, you receive PIC as a sole manipulator of the controls and still follow airline guidance for your applications.
