I am confident anyone affiliated with medicine has read that Boston Scientific is set to acquire Axonics, Inc., a trailblazer in medical technology for treating urinary and bowel dysfunction. This acquisition, valued at a robust $3.7 billion, marks a significant expansion of Boston Scientific's urology portfolio, offering innovative solutions for patients grappling with overactive bladder and fecal incontinence. The move is poised to redefine the industry landscape, bolstering Boston Scientific's capacity to support urologists and patients facing chronic conditions. It also propels the company into the dynamic field of sacral neuromodulation, broadening patient access to essential care. From personal experience, having been part of Pfizer's expansion into management in 2004 and later experiencing a restructuring layoff in 2008, I understand the dual facets of such corporate maneuvers. The ruling also annulled the basis for a hefty fine imposed on Illumina, which the company now no longer needs to pay. For About $3.7 Billion ☑ The deal marks Boston Scientific's entry into sacral neuromodulation, a minimally invasive procedure used in the treatment of overactive bladder and fecal incontinence, and is the latest in efforts to scale up its urology business. ☑ Axonics, Inc.' products, such as Axonics R20 and Axonics F15, are used to deliver sacral neuromodulation therapy, which works by delivering mild electrical pulses to the sacral nerve to restore communication between the brain and the bladder. The California-based company's portfolio includes Bulkamid, a minimally invasive treatment for urinary incontinence in women. ☑ Massachusetts-based Boston Scientific has been on an acquisition spree.
