Presenter: Dr. Maria-Therese Friehs, FernUniversität in Hagen Discussant: Dr. Patrick Kotzur, Durham University Date: 18 October Abstract: In this presentation, I will give a short overview of the novel and published developments in the analysis of longitudinal data on intergroup contact effects in naturalistic settings, focussing specifically on divergent results looking at within-person and between-person effects of contact on attitudes. These will be followed by the results of a large-scale work-in-progress re-analysis of longitudinal contact data. I will present and critically discuss existing explanations and interpretations of results and offer an outlook proposing alternative approaches to the analysis of naturalistic longitudinal contact effects. 🖋️ Full schedule and registration: To join the colloquium, click on the relevant date(s) in our schedule https://lnkd.in/dVsdAieM 🌐 To join our network, contact us: Michèle Denise Birtel Lukas Wallrich Libby Drury, PhD https://lnkd.in/eVcjMFEX

If you want to hear more about our scientific collaboration with Namrata Gundiah and Aritra Chatterjee, as well as the genesis of our recent work published in Development, here is the link to our interview for the "People behind the papers" section of the issue. For me, this was a nice way to talk about our research, the ups and downs that we had to deal with, and the long journey that was undertaken to publish this work. https://lnkd.in/dMw_PsNQ

"The general goal of this Conference is to focus on important aspects of #laboratorymedicine in which some strategic actions/measures should be taken. The Strategic Conference is not just about gaining knowledge from scientific sessions: the aim is to create an interactive environment that allows opportunities to share visions, projects and actions." - Prof. Mario Plebani, President of the Conference. Our paper on the "Discovery of a possible role of asprosin in ovarian function" is still one of 2023's top-cited articles. We were also one of the top-cited in 2022. Today, it has reached 28 citations. I am very proud of our groundbreaking research during my graduate studies. Hoping that we can do more quality research like this. #womeninscience #youngresearchers #scienceinnovation

Abstract submission for the Spring MRS meeting in Seattle closes 10/17! I am working with the Center for the Science of Synthesis Across Scales (CSSAS), an Energy Frontier Research Center, to host Symposium SF08-Achieving and Exploiting Complexity Through the Synthesis and Application of Hybrid Hierarchical Materials. Please consider submitting an abstract! Abstract Submission Deadline: October 17, 2024, 11:59 pm ET The abstract submission page: https://lnkd.in/gnjhDVfF With living systems as inspiration, a grand challenge in materials research is achieving the rational design of hierarchical materials for complex functions based on a predictive understanding of materials synthesis across scales. This symposium will bring together experimental and computational researchers from across the science and engineering community to discuss innovative approaches to mastering the free energy landscapes that control the assembly of complex building blocks into ordered and functional hybrid hierarchical systems. Topics will include: Synthesis of hybrid hierarchical materials Application of hybrid hierarchical materials: Energy and the environment Application of hybrid hierarchical materials: Metamaterials Application of hybrid hierarchical materials: Biology and medicine Theory and simulation to predict the form and function of hybrid hierarchical materials Joint Sessions are being considered with SF07-Complexity Engineering of Materials Combining Order, Disorder and Hierarchical Organization.
