I attended an AFL match on the weekend (my GWS Giants vs Nth Melbourne Kangaroos). Both before and after game I had times to pause and think about the relationship between an AFL team and their supporters, and how there are parallels to those of the Generation/Transmission industry and the Communities in which they operate. A Generation or Transmission projects, as with a football team, will not long last if it does not engage with and have support with the community. Listening to the GWS inaugural Captain (Phil Davis) speak at a farewell event before the game for the team (as "should" be for a Generation project) a primary focus from the start was to be engaged and delivering enjoyment and success to their community. He noted that this is not something you can do overnight. It needs to be a consistent effort and long term focus. This is how wider community and generational support is built, and that without it the success is empty and meaningless. And the engagement needs to be different at different times depending on what the community needs. GWS as a young football club, their community (younger boys and girls) want pictures and signatures and the chance to run around on the field. This was all on show after the game. For them, it is building life long support within that part of their community. For Generation and Transmission projects, there will be specific things that are important to each community, and these will differ between communities. And if the projects aren't prepared to listen to or look at what is important to a community, then it will be impossible to deliver it and build that relationship. Community is key. Without it the success is meaningless. There are examples we as a wider industry can draw on from many different spheres. Whether it be Football organisations, or companies like Neoen Australia. We should never stop trying to do and be better corporate citizens, seeking to share success and bring joy to the communities in which we operate. (Oh, and "Up the Giants!")

Incredibly proud of this team and these superstar athletes! 💙 This incredible group of Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) athletes, along with members of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Texas (LETR) representing the Dallas Police Department, recently competed in their first regional Topgolf competition together....and, everyone brought home medals!! What makes this even more remarkable is that DPD is the first LETR agency in Texas to establish a Unified LETR Delegation-- and now they're starting a movement. Other law enforcement agencies are starting to follow suit, working to create more opportunities for SOTX athletes in a Unified manner. It's amazing to see how this initiative is spreading and providing a platform for inclusion and support for athletes across the state. Despite the incredibly tough week leading into this Topgolf competition having lost one of their own and with two other officers injured, these DPD officers still showed up with courage and resilience. They supported their athlete partners, cheered them on, encouraged them, and competed alongside them. I can't imagine what they're going through, but I hope spending some time with the team, even for just a few hours, gave these officers some comfort. LETR members are some of the bravest people I know, and it's been an honor to watch this idea of starting an LETR Unified Delegation come to life & a privilege to have helped make it a reality for the Dallas Police Department. None of this would have happened if it wasn't for an officer who came to me and asked this question, "What more can we do for the athletes in our community, and do it in a Unified way?" INCLUSION MATTERS, and being part of a group that celebrates and supports everyone-- regardless of ability-- makes all the difference! If you are a LEO, Fire Rescue member, active duty or retired military member reading this, and want to get involved in the LETR movement with Special Olympics Texas...connect with me, send me a message and I'll be glad to help you and your department out! #inclusionmatters #LETR #SOTX #PlayUnified #LiveUnified #lawenforcement #firerescue #military

Did you know that most B Corps keep improving their impact? When it was time to renew their B Corp Certification, 63% of our community increased their impact score. Ask a B Corp, and they’ll probably tell you how proud they are about what they’ve done to keep making progress, even after they got certified. This month, we’re celebrating our communities’ commitment to change by sharing all of the ways they plan to grow their impact and make business better. #bcorpmonth #blocaltexas #forceforgood

Many people think #hospice is for the final days of someone’s life which, of course, it is. However, it is available six months or sometimes even longer before a person passes away. They provide support, supplies, guidance, counsel, and more for the patient and #caregivers. Their service is invaluable and the comment we hear most often is “I wish we knew what they did sooner.” #caregiving #caregiversupport #dementia #caregivingjourney #longtermcare #eldercare #disabilitycare #healthcare #endoflifecare #endoflifeplanning #endoflife
One year ago today, President Carter entered hospice care. This is notable for a few reasons: -Former President Jimmy Carter is the longest living U.S. President and the first known to utilize hospice care. -While in office, the Carter administration tested hospice care as a model, which led to the Medicare Hospice Benefit we know today. -The average Length of Stay for Medicare patients in 2021 was 92 days, and the median was 17. -In 2021, 6% of hospice patients received care for 365 days or more. -President Carter is receiving the same hospice care that is available to all Americans under the Medicare Hospice Benefit. Thank you, President Carter for lighting the way for all of us. https://lnkd.in/eCQZ4f3b
Thank You President Carter
