NEW #TuesdayTips! Yesterday here in the USA it was Dr.Martin Luther King Day, which is a big volunteer "Day of Service" with thousands of events across the country. These tips are good for evaluating any kind of group volunteer service day, wherever you are in the world. After any big volunteer event you should do an evaluation of the activity with feedback from all participants, with a "Plus/Delta Debrief". "Plus/Delta" evaluation and/or survey questions should be specific to the objectives and goals of the event, and my tips include a few basic ideas to get you started, and more resource links. I also highlight the wonderful work on the topic of "MLK Days of Service" from Breauna Dorelus, MPA, with links in the video description to her Engage article and webinar available on her own website, Connecting the Cause. Links to my Priceless Advice and TuesdayTips conversation with Breauna are at the end of the video, so check those out, too! #LeadersOfVolunteers #MLKDayOfService #DEIAJ #CommunityEngagement #SocialJustice

Yesterday, in the heart of Accrington, we witnessed something truly inspiring: our Muslim and Asian (GEM) community came together in a peaceful protest, standing firm against the divisive rhetoric and extremist ideologies that have recently plagued our nation. As someone who was born and raised in Britain as an Asian Muslim, I feel immense pride in seeing our community's resilience and commitment to promoting unity and respect. These recent riots and the alarming rise of far-right extremism are deeply troubling. They seek to undermine the rich tapestry of multiculturalism that defines Britain. It is both disheartening and erroneous to attribute societal issues solely to Muslims or migrants. Such narratives are not only inaccurate but also detrimental to the cohesion of our society, as they spread division and propagate hatred. The impact of these events extends beyond the streets. They affect us all—my clients, my staff, my family, my friends, my neighbours, and our wider community. The peaceful demonstration in Accrington is a testament to the fact that love, solidarity, and mutual respect can and should prevail over intolerance and bigotry. Navigating life effectively requires open communication and a genuine effort to understand issues, rather than seeking scapegoats. Embracing our diversity and supporting one another is the only path to a cohesive and thriving society. https://lnkd.in/eer75uNq #CommunityUnity #MulticulturalBritain #PeacefulProtest #StandAgainstExtremism #RespectDiversity #EndRacism #StrengthInDiversity https://lnkd.in/eer75uNq

THIS. Let's imagine a world where this is the foundation of how organizations operate, period. This is what I believe in. We use sports analogies and metaphors in learning and development workshops all the time. We talk about inspiring our kids and making them our future. What if we did this with our employees and each other? What if it applied outside of kids sports, or sports in general. What if we gave it a try? What are you already doing that aligns with this way of thinking and being? "When a team has your back, something awesome happens" - That's right! "When you belong, you believe" - Exactly. What will you take from this incredible short video, and apply to your workplace today? Jays Care Foundation Thank you for this beautifully curated campaign. This is the world I believe in.
When you belong, you believe. We've launched a national campaign focused on building a Canada where kids of all backgrounds and all abilities have a place on a team where they belong. 💙 Learn more at jayscare.com/belong

👷♀️ Celebrating Women in Construction Week 👷♀️ This week marks the annual Women in Construction Week, a time to highlight and celebrate the vital contributions of women in the construction industry. As we reflect on the progress and strides made towards gender diversity and inclusion, it's clear that the path forward is built on the foundation of equality, respect, and opportunity. The construction industry has traditionally been male-dominated, but the landscape is changing. Women are not only joining the ranks in increasing numbers but are also leading with innovation, skill, and unparalleled dedication. From engineers and architects to project managers and tradespeople, women are breaking barriers and shaping the future of construction. However, the journey doesn't end here. As we celebrate this week, let's also commit to encouraging more women to enter this field, supporting their growth, and recognizing their achievements. It's about creating an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive and contribute to building a better world. To all the women in construction, thank you for your hard work, resilience, and for paving the way for future generations. Your strength and leadership continue to inspire and drive positive change in the industry. Thank you to the men who support us and encourage our growth in the industry. Let's all take a moment this week to acknowledge and appreciate the incredible women who are building our future, one project at a time. Here's to breaking more glass ceilings and laying new ground – together. #WomenInConstructionWeek #Construction #DiversityInConstruction #Inclusion #WomenEmpowerment

I love how many people, including corporate members are coming out to support MARC and our efforts to give back to the community! If you have not signed up yet or don’t know what to expect when golfing with me: 1. I will throw your clubs to you. Not caddie for you, and not necessarily the clubs you wanted, but I will throw them to you/ at you. 2. I will not pay enough attention to watch where your ball goes. Keep it on the fairway and you will be fine. 3. I will help you search for lost balls, but will not exit the golf cart for this, especially if it’s hot outside. 4. I will not offer any tips on your swing or any golf advice as I barely even know how to play. My clubs are probably 20 years old and came from Target. 5. I will be a constant source of amusement as you watch me attempt to keep the ball on the fairway of the hole we are actually playing. 6. I will lose about 3 sleaves of balls, 4 if it is hot outside because I am not walking all over the course looking for them. In summary, you may not want to sign up after all and for those who already did, you may want to rethink your choices. Definitely plan to attend our education sessions the next day, though- we have some great speakers lined up and there are sure to be stories or pics of me ricocheting a ball off a tree and into my own face or something equally hilarious.
Don't miss your chance to see Christopher Chalk in action at the 2023 MARC Community Classic. Are you in?
