As we reflect on the long and rich history of Indigenous peoples in Canada, it's important to recognize and celebrate the contributions, cultures, and achievements of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. At the Canadian Club Toronto, we want to take this day as an opportunity to acknowledge and promote the successes and challenges of Indigenous communities and groups. It is crucial to continue the conversation about the past, present, and future of Indigenous peoples in Canada and work towards reconciliation in a meaningful way. We honour the diversity of Indigenous cultures and traditions, and we recognize the skills and expertise of Indigenous peoples that contribute to the economic, social, and cultural prosperity of our country. We will continue to make efforts to engage in meaningful dialogue with Indigenous communities, recognize Indigenous cultures, and support Indigenous-led initiatives. Is it ok to celebrate Canada Day? This July 1st, let's celebrate the beauty and diversity of our country, while acknowledging the need for change and growth. So, is it OK to celebrate Canada Day? The answer is yes, as long as we use this opportunity to educate ourselves and engage in meaningful conversations to create a better tomorrow for all Canadians. In light of reconciliation: it's essential to acknowledge and appreciate the diverse Indigenous communities that have called this land home long before the nation's founding. This year, let's take a moment to educate ourselves and commit to working towards Reconciliation. 🇨🇦✨ #canada #canadaday #reflect #change #freedom #july1 #thefeistypm #reconciliation #nation #workingtowardsreconciliation #acknowledge #appreciate #indigenous #community #lekwungen #wsanecpeoples https://lnkd.in/gST9idgr

Today is time for a more serious post as it is when we take a moment to reflect on National Truth and Reconciliation Day, honouring the resilience and strength of Indigenous communities across Canada. This day calls us not only to remember the painful legacy of residential schools but also to commit to meaningful action towards healing, understanding, and unity. True reconciliation isn’t confined to a single day or event—it’s a continuous process of learning, listening, and embracing diversity in all its forms. It is about recognizing the voices that have been silenced and ensuring that Indigenous perspectives, along with those of other marginalized communities, are genuinely heard and valued. On this day of reflection, let's challenge ourselves to build workplaces where everyone feels a sense of belonging, where diversity is celebrated, and where we continue to learn from one another with humility and respect. Reconciliation starts with awareness and action—and the workplace can be a powerful space for both. Let’s walk this path of healing together ❤️, honouring the past while shaping a future built on mutual respect, compassion, and inclusivity. #TruthAndReconciliation #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceCulture #IndigenousRights

Doing better than indigenous fatigue starts with asking yourself what your role is in Truth and Reconciliation. We are all treaty partners, and yes the government has a lot of work to do. But so do the rest of you as, Canadian Society. And it starts with being uncomfortable with Canada's truth, because without staring directly at the truth, we cannot begin meaningful reconciliation. The government has a responsibility to do better, but so do you, you cannot just mourn, and then have indigenous fatigue - you need to do better both, individually, as a settler, and collectively as a settler Nation. Everyone has a role to play in Truth and Reconciliation and since the government isn't stepping up, the people must. When you reach out to indigenous businesses, asking them to minimize the time it takes to educate you, don't tell them you don't have the time. Indigenous people have never been given the time or a voice, now we are! Make the time. Free 30-minute consultation to discuss booking a Cultural competency training workshop for your company, group, or organization. https://lnkd.in/ghqrhZwW Because that is what Truth and Reconciliation is about. Which is also in the 94 calls to action. #raise #mmiwawareness #culturalcompetency #unique #diversityinclusionequity #indigenousbusiness #indigenouswomen #inclusivity #culturalawareness #culturalsensitivity #listeningandlearning #openmindedness #people #education #crossculturalawareness #training #ally #allyship #middlemanagement #canada #ontario #schools #financeandeconomy #businessandmanagement #businessandleadership #communitydevelopment #experience #landdevelopment #land #landacknowledgements #didyouknow #rightsandtitle #equality #truthandreconciliation #trc

Championing positive change at Kamamak Consulting, with expertise in facilitation, Indigenous parenting workshops, self-esteem, anxiety, and trauma support.
Call of Action 92 Provide education on Indigenous history, Treaties, and human rights, fostering intercultural competency and anti-racism skills. This and call to action 1-4 is why Kamamak Consulting was created.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission outlined 94 Calls to Action, with the federal government responsible for 76 of them. Indigenous Watchdog reports that 11 Calls are complete, and 39 are in progress, making up 66% of the total. Today, I highlight Call to Action 92, which urges corporate Canada to: - Engage in meaningful consultation and secure consent from Indigenous peoples before economic development projects. - Ensure equitable access to opportunities for Aboriginal peoples and deliver sustainable benefits to their communities. - Provide education on Indigenous history, Treaties, and human rights, fostering intercultural competency and anti-racism skills. The development of grassroots initiatives, such as the "Indigenous Trailblazers Summit," will play pivotal roles in amplifying the Indigenous voices and fostering collaboration between the Indigenous and non-Indigenous business communities. This summit aims to address key topics such as the ones below: #IndigenousEntrpreneurship #IndigenousOwned #IndigenousLeadership #CommunityEngagement
