My morning read… working at the boundaries means making ways to listen and observe both internally and externally. Boards can observe their organization by simply walking through the doors. By showing up without pre-formed questions and the only agenda being to learn. Maybe a town council decides to spend a Saturday afternoon at the municipal ball fields or campgrounds. Or maybe they decide to visit another community to see how their new skatepark is working out. By going outside of the board room together board members have generative conversations and time to reflect… together… and without the pressure of an agenda.

Could you please teach me the appropriate word to use in the following situation? For example, you might write as follows; 'The community sports club contributes to the sustainable development of the local community and to building links between local people. Therefore, the club has a public role and carries out projects of public interest'. Which word is appropriate to express 'publicness' in this case? Is it publicness, public good, public sphere, just public or something like that? Also, is 'public interest' the right word in this case?

Your feedback on Government services helps us to improve and better serve our community. Here’s some feedback we have received recently: You said... the Les Quennevais sports centre hall is too noisy at 7am when the doors are opened during classes. We did....we now borrow fans for the spinning studio during these sessions so the doors can be kept closed. When you’ve interacted with any Government of Jersey service or department, we want to know how we did. You can give us feedback (comment, complaint, compliment or suggestion) on how we can improve here: https://bit.ly/41COxsQ

At LGNZ, we’re all about making sure local government is accessible to everyone. That said, we know it’s easy to look at councils and go: what happens in those enigmatic rooms called chambers? Why are they called chambers? Why is everyone calling the mayor ‘Your Worship’? So many questions! And we want to answer them. So, in the spirit of demystifying some of the mysteries of councils, we’re launching an Ask Us Anything series. Got a burning question about how councils work, or what you can do about the leak on your road or whether you can get support for your idea for a new skate park, DM us – and we’ll answer them. Please note: while there is no such thing as a stupid question, there are, unfortunately, such things as offensive questions. So, while we welcome almost all questions, like every human being with a heart and a Wifi connection, we have our limits. Thank you. With that in mind – message away!

Being a youth pastor usually means you're not just planning a teaching series each month... you're also hosting events. They’re a way to connect with students and their families, and even get new people in the door! Events matter, but hosting them regularly doesn't have to mean hosting them every month. That’s why we’re fans of keeping your events strategy really simple! Because you can make a bigger impact each year if you focus on fewer events that can make the most impact.
