#femaleleaders: International Women’s Day is on 8 March. If you have been following me for a while, you know that I celebrate women everyday. I only use #champagne made by women during my #champagnetasting workshops in #paris and I only take people to visit houses with women at the helm in #reims, #epernay or in the hillsides. And I try to tell the stories about the women behind the bottles here on social media. My small way of supporting women in a male-dominated industry. For the last few years I have been compiling a list of all the women behind the champagne bottles: CEOs, managing directors, cellar masters, owners of small independent estates. The list is freely available on my website: https://lnkd.in/eH7YHNJy. I took the opportunity to update the list this morning following a few recent announcements and discoveries. I also just recalculated the % of women at the top in the Grandes Marques champagne houses: only 20% have a female president and 17% a female cellar master. Glass bottle ceiling? Last year the trade union of vignerons in Champagne (SGV) shared the results of a study looking into the role of women: 40% of the wineries in Champagne are owned/managed by women, up 10% from 40 years ago. So the big brands have less women at the top, and small independent producers have more. About 70% of champagne is purchased by women. And 80% of my followers are women. So if you want to celebrate women on #iwd, pop a cork from one of the names on the list! And share the list with your network!
